L <br />i <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 8, 1978 <br />Page 3 <br />Acting Mayor Black introduced a letter received from the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency dated Jan. 17, 1978 <br />regarding the wastewater treatment plant discharge per- <br />mit and disposal methods and the environmental effects <br />of the methods. The letter requested the city to <br />support the proposal to deposit sludge during the next <br />four years on 1,450 acres of land in the city of Rose- <br />mount, Dakota County. This request was due to lack of <br />facilities at the current Metro plant site. Councilman <br />Steele moved, seconded by Acting Mayor Black to table the <br />request. Upon a vote being taken the following voted <br />"aye": Acting Mayor Black, Councilmembers McGough, Steele, <br />and Brown the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Mayor Warkentien absent. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reported there would be a <br />Legislative Conference sponsored by the League of <br />Minnesota Cities and Metro Municipalities on Mar. 1, 1978 <br />s.uggested.~ the council consider attending as he likewise <br />would like to attend. The conference will begin at <br />1:30 p.m. at the Permanent Collection Hall of the <br />Minnesota Museum of Art, located at Kellogg Blvd and <br />St. Peter Street. The fee is $10.00, with afternoon and <br />evening sessions. <br />Councilperson Brown reported the MTC had approved 99 <br />for passenger waiting shelters to be constructed in <br />The sites being considered for Falcon Heights are at <br />Snelling and Larpenteur, however it is not included <br />their 1978 plans, but will be considered for future <br />j ects . <br />16 <br />MINNESOTA <br />POLLUTION <br />CONTROL <br />LEAGUE OF <br />MINNESOTA <br />CITIES <br />LEGISLATIVE <br />CONFERENCE <br />sites MTC PASSENGER <br />1978. SHELTERS <br />in <br />pro- <br />Councilperson Brown informed council of the Recreation <br />Committee meeting, held on the 7th of Feb. 1978. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes, Councilperson Brown and <br />Mr. James Duffy were present at the meeting. The summer <br />recreation program was discussed, tennis program, girls <br />softball and soccer. A program for adults and senior <br />citizens was also discussed. It was suggested they co- <br />cordinate with community services as-they have may pro- <br />grams going. A family recreation program was discussed <br />and what could be done in this area, get togethers at the <br />parks and etc. with the family unit in mind. <br />Councilman Steele suggested contacting each citizen on <br />the various committees and ask if they would like_ to <br />continue to serve and the council is .interested in having <br />their participation. Councilman Steele moved notification <br />of the citizens serving on committees excluding appointees. <br />Councilman McGough seconded. Upon a vote being taken the <br />following voted "aye": Acting Mayor Black, Councilmembers <br />McGough, Steele and Brown the following voted "nay": None. <br />Motion carried.
