MINUTES
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL l2, 1978 - Page 5
The amount that we are requesting through the grant
is approximately $750 thousand dollars, which will
cover a portion of the project, but not the total
cost. We hope the U of M, State Fairgrounds and
other sources of funds will complete the remaining
portion of the project. The pre-application has to
be submitted between May 1, 1978 and May 15, 1978.
We will have another public hearing on April 26, 1978.
Councilman Steele asked if Lauderdale, Roseville or
any abutting our area, must they be accepted also at
the same time as we would be in the total wide area?
Could we be turned down if the U of M does not go
along with the project?
I~~
L_~_:
f
Mr. McElroy-reported that in order to get the ~~ant
monies, we have to prove the entire project would
be funded.
Clerk Administrator Barnes reported he had had
meetings with the State Fair staff and U of M and
they did not object to it and they felt they had an
obligation because they do have drainage. The engineer
will relate the figure they would have to come up with,
the U of M has to go to the Legislature for monies and
this will be presented to the Regents next month.
4~
ST. ANTHONY
STORM SEWER
(CONT.)
Mr. McElroy
Clerk Adminis-
trator Barnes
Engineer Lemberg described the project and outlined the ENGINEER BRAD
area involved on the map. The area we are talking LEMBERG
about is bounded by the U of M, coming up to the west
area of the Falcon Woods area, down to Larpenteur Ave.
Across the north side there was an assessment for the
north tier of Falcon Woods and the properties abutting
Roselawn Avenue and the N.E. area of the University
property, that area drains into the storm sewer that
was built and partially paid for by Falcon Heights,
built by Roseville a few years ago. The line comes
down bisects part of Maple Knoll area and between the
back lot lines abutting Snelling and St. Mary's, picks
up part of the shopping center, N.E. corner of Snelling
and Larpenteur Avenues, comes across GTA property,
crosses part of the Hollywood Court area, picks up the
parking lot, fairgrounds and down to the tract area.
This all drains to the south at the present time through
natural drainage, and road ditches. There is a small pipe
down to the west border of the Falcon Heights City Hall area,
goes down and is picked up by an open drainage ditch the
fairgrounds constructed a few years ago, dumps into a pond
and then flows overland, runs down through the fairgrounds.
and University property into a pond near the student housing
area, SW corner.
