MINUTES
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 12, 1978
Page 9
If you are going to do a little figuring on that,
would it be possible for you to get some figures
for some of the property owners, like myself and
Mr. Spiegler to see what our individual cost would
be and what you feel would be the benefit back in
taxes for the City and how would this affect us
because we happen to be large property owners
and we would probably be carrying a heavy burben
towards this, not us personally, it would be our
tenants.
A brief answer on that would be, I'd have to get
plats out and figure how much drainage you would
have and roughly how many square feet you have.
As it looks now, if it all goes, the type of thing
we put together, it would be approx. 3~ a square
foot, so if you have 40,000 square feet, you are
talking $1,200.
Is that spread over a period of time on the
menu?
Normally they are, yes.
AL RUBINGER
~~
ENGINEER BRAD
LEMBERG
assess- AL RUBINGER
Normally it goes 10 years, but can see no objection
to going 15 years. You do have water backed up on
your property at .this time don't you?
We have had it a little in the driveway this year,
as we normally do in one driveway.
I think one of the concerns we have is the ulti-
mate use of the property pointed out on the map,
east of Fairview and north of Larpenteur. I think
ultimately the University envisions uses of this
property. I think this has a bearing on this thing
as to the use, if-:they<redevelop that as residential
or University building, something like that, of course
it would necessitate having a storm sewer up in that
area. They are contributing runoff of course, and
would have to pay for it as well as the rest. I think
future projection is very important.
We did have a proposal at one time for the property
west of Tatum which was quite a concern as to where
the water would go. Of course residential property
built up, probably discharges more water than farm
land or nursery 1 and. Someday it is going to be
developed, there is no way it will stay this way for-
ever, but with shortage of land in the Twin Cities,
someday Mr Hermes and Mr. Hawkins will be disposing
of their properties in the foreseeable future. I
think we have to prepare for it and this is one way
we can look at it. I'm not advocating it, but I
think this is the first time we have been able to
talk of it with the chance of financial aid and
ENGINEER BRAD
LEMBERG
MAYOR WARKENTIEN
AL RUBINGER
HAROLD NILSEN
MAYOR WARKENTIEN
