MINUTES
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 26, 1978
Page 6
Engr Lemberg stated the normal run-off factor on ENGINEER
residential properties is approx. 450, on business BRAD LEMBERG
property, a 90% run-off factor is used due to the
area covered by hard surface. But the amount of
.concentration must be looked at to determine the
run-off factor. The cost per square foot, based
on the runn-off factor of 45o would be 3~ a sq.ft.
and a 90o run-off factor, would be 6~ a sq. ft.
Mr. Rubinger questioned Mr. McElroy regarding the AL RUBINGER
holding of 350 of the funds and requested a
clarification on that.
Mr. McElroy explained that in a single purpose grant MR. McELROY
they are setting aside 350 of the available funds for
this type of project, where the comprehensive plan is
setting aside 65o and this has come through the
legislature. That may change, but that is the way
they have it set up at the present time.
Mr. Rubinger asked how acurate the figures are, as
at times they can be way out of line at the final
figuring. They always seem to run higher, never
lower.
The original estimate was made in 1963, brought up
to date in 1970, 1974 and now April, 1978. At this
point that is as far as it can be extended. These
are estimated figures in order to apply for the grant,
no figures have been settled on. No one is committed
until the final contract is let on the project. If
the project were approved, there would be several
hearings before any bids can be approved.
Councilman Steele noted, assuming we go with the
project, is there a projection as to what the cost
would be? If the grant goes through at a fixed
price and costs go higher, is the grant increased?
Ii
~~
No, the grant would be a fixed figure, if costs go
higher, the City would have a larger share to pay.
In regard to runoff, you are talking 3~ a square foot,
typically, if you have a large driveway and parking
lot, do they figure double the whole square footage
(900) or how do .they figure that?
AL RUBINGER
ENGR.
