Acting Mayor Black moved, seconded by Councilmember <br />McGough to approve application fc_~ employment of Nicholas B. Baumann as <br />a volunteer fireman. FSotion carried. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes submitted a request from Thomas J. Hildman - <br />1t~97 California to delete the $1.00 penalty charge placed on his sewer <br />bill from Dec. 1977. The lath quarter bill had been paid late as Ivir. <br />Hildman maintains it was sent to the previous owner (he moved in in <br />October). Clerk Administrator Barnes ~°•-;commended cancellation even <br />though our records are correct. Attorney Kenefick did not feel CONTAINER <br />that a building permit was required. <br />Councilman McGough reported he had been requested to look into the <br />possi'oility of obtaining a list of owners or managers of the business <br />places in Falcon Heights for Ramsey County Sheriff Dept. They are <br />finding an increasing number of doors left open and are unable to <br />contact anyone to lock them. At times they were not only left un- <br />locked, but standing open. Also the Deputy in the evening, has noticed <br />private garage doors left open and an open invitation for someone to <br />walk in. <br />Clerk Administrator 3arnes informed council our share of State Aid <br />funds received was $32,010 for T~Zaintenance, and $220,98.97 for Con- <br />s tructio n . <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes introduced lair. John Boland's letter from <br />the Metro Council which informed council the population estimates for <br />the City was 5,180 or 50 less titan the previous year. <br />Clerk Administrator 3arnes reported to council he had attended a meeting <br />of St. Paul City Council's Liquor Committee regarding expansion of the <br />T~iGI~i Liquor Store at 1110 Tr;~est Larpenteur, St. Paul, to hear arguments for <br />and against authorizing a license to permit sales in the new addition. <br />The building permit i~aas issued prior to this request as the City Ordinance <br />does not require application for the liquor license extension at the time <br />the building permits are issued.
