~1 <br />_~ <br />1 <br />0 <br />MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JULY 26, 1978 <br />Page 7 <br />Discussion was held by council regarding the 1978 <br />and 1979 tree planting program. Clerk Administrator <br />Barnes was directed to invite Dr. French to the <br />August 9, 1978 council meeting. <br />Attorney Kenefick informed council he had drafted <br />an agreement for Westlund Construction.~~ Mr. Westlund <br />informed Attorney Kenefick that he had. not~agreed_. <br />to the proposal to discontinue commercial use of the <br />property after June 1, 1979, he said he had agreed <br />to .clean up the premises but he would not discontinue <br />the use of the property, therefore he will not sign <br />the agreement. The lot has been cleaned up. Attorney <br />Kenefick reviewed council action taken May 24, 1978. <br />Council directed Attorney Kenefick to proceed with the <br />issuance of tags in accordance with Ordinance No. 83. <br />Councilman Black brought out for discussion building <br />plans submitted by an electronics firm that is contem- <br />plating a move to Falcon Heights. Council directed <br />the City Engineer and City Attorney to write Heelett <br />Packard Corp. and outline the feeling of the council <br />and what would be required for the construction. <br />Councilmember Black moved the plans submitted by <br />Hewlett Packard Corp. be referred to the City Engineer <br />and City Attorney for consideration of zoning to <br />review the plans. Councilmember McGough seconded. <br />Upon a vote being taken the following voted ^aye^: <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough, <br />Steele and Brown and the following voted ^nay^: None. <br />Motion carried. <br />Councilmember McGough brought council up to date <br />regarding the U. of M• lighted fields. The final <br />recommendation of the committee is lighted recrea- <br />tional fields west of Cleveland Avenue, north of <br />the Gibbs Farm, with parking being shared with the <br />Gibbs property, four lighted ball fields, soccer <br />field and equipment shed and restroom facilities.. <br />115 <br />TREE PLANTING <br />PROGRAM <br />WESTLUND <br />CONSTRUCTION <br />HEWLETT <br />PACKARD CORP. <br />LIGHTED FIELD <br />COMMITTEE <br />U OF M <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember MEETING <br />Black to extend to 11:30 p.m. Upon a vote being EXTENSION <br />taken the following voted ^aye^: Mayor Warkentien, <br />Councilmembers Black, McGough, Steele and Brown and <br />the following voted ^nay^: None. Motion carried. <br />Engineer Lemberg noted Attorney Kenefick had drawn EASEMENT AGREEMENT <br />up a temporary construction easement for Stephen B. <br />and Susan J. Brandt who are the property owners at <br />the S.W. corner of the intersection of Snelling and <br />Roselaww t a ca~r~lete the Roselawn Avenue project east <br />of the university property. Engineer Lemberg requested <br />authorization to meet with the Brandts to review the <br />construction easement in consideration of $1.00, <br />with no assessment to the property.
