MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL r~ETING <br />MAY 9, 1919 <br />Page <br />Engineer Lemberg informed Council that the plans for the Garden Avenue <br />Improvement and the proposed sealcoating for the area oast of Snelling <br />Avenue, are now at the office of the State Department of Transportation <br />for approval. <br />Engineer Lemberg also reported he has received from Ramsey County, the <br />preliminary plans for upgrading Roselawn Avenue-from Fairview to Cleveland. <br />He presented to Council a written report on Municipal State Aid street <br />funding . <br />Mayor Warkontien noted a letter of thanks from Paul Ciernia, Human Rights <br />Chairman, regarding the wheel chair basketball game. <br />CounciLnember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Brown, that Mark <br />Stennis be hired as Tree Inspector-Dutch E]m Disease, at $9.00 per hour <br />as recommended by Dr. Dav_i.d French, City Horticulturist. Dahlgren TO HOWARD <br />indicated that the ]_otter was apt to be detrimental to his business and DAHLGREN ASSOC~ <br />could hurt him serious]_y. He requested that Council consider writing <br />another letter rescinding the first letter . <br />Councilrnember McGough moved, seconded by Mayor Warkontien, that Clerk <br />Administrator Barnes be authorized to write another letter rescinding <br />the lettor dismissing Howard Dahlgron Associates, Inc. and informing <br />that Council wishes to terminate the contract as of the date stipulated <br />in the original letter and ask Howard Dahlgren Associates, Inc. to bill <br />the City for work completed at that time. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Brown informed Council that the Recreation Advisory Commi- JEANNE SAARI <br />ttee inter^,riewed Jeanne Saari as a prospective Park Attendant and Soccer HIRED AS PARK <br />Coach, and recommended her employment-at $5.00 per hour. Councilmember ATTENDANT AND <br />Brown also requested that the Recreation Budget be increased by $500.00 SOCCER COACH- <br />to cover the cost of Summer Recreation employees. RECREATION <br />BUDGET IN- <br />Councilmember Brown moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele, that Jeanne CREASED BY <br />Saari be employed as summer Park Attendant and Soccer Coach at $5.00 per $500.00 <br />hour and that $500.00 be transferred from the Treasurer's Cash Balance <br />to the Recreation Budget. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Steele informed Gouncil he has had complaints regarding 2 LIGHTS TO <br />the lack of street lights on Fairview Avenue and requested that at least BE TURNED ON <br />2 of the ~. ligh is be turned on. He had surveyed the street after dark ON FAIRVIEW <br />and felt it to be dangerous.
