DISCUSSION <br />(cont.) <br />Fire Ch=ief [tenchin informed Council that the Fire Department would like <br />permission from the Council to respond to calls from their own fire fighters <br />within a two mile radius of City Hall. The reason for this request was <br />due to the fact that 50% of the firemen live outside the City of Falcon <br />IIeights and feel they would like to be serviced by Falcon Heights. Council- <br />member Steele moved, seconded by Cou~ci-lmember McGough, that the Fire and <br />Rescue Department be allowed to go out of the City within a two mile radius <br />of the Fire Station to handle calls for their own personnel and the immediate <br />families of the personnel, without charge and without the Rescue Personnel <br />charging for their services. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Michelle Foster and Pat llady of Rauenhorst Corporation and Fred Harvey of <br />Hewlett-Packard Corporation appeared before Council requesting a building <br />permit for the Hewlett-Packard Building to be built at 2025 W. Larpenteur. <br />Council was informed that the residents adjacent to the property had been <br />provided with plans showing the building and landscaping, and a question- <br />naire regarding the proposed building in order that the residents could <br />have some input. Several completed questionnaires indicated some concern <br />over the proposed automotive service center which is to be included in <br />the building. <br />HEWLETT-PACKARD, <br />APPLIES FOR <br />BUILDING PERMIT <br />Fred Harvey of Hewlett-Packard explained that Hewlett-Packard had recently <br />decided to install service centers in their buildings in order to expedite <br />maintenance of company cars and felt the center would not cause any problems <br />for the nearby neighbors. <br />Gordon Pollard, 1957 W. Larpenteur, expressed concern over drainage and the GORDON POLLARD <br />screening of the parking lot adjacent to his property. This matter is to 1957 W. <br />be worked out between Mr. Pollard and Hewlett-Packard. LARPENTEUR <br />Councilmember McGough stated he felt the concerned citizens should have <br />an opportunity for discussion of the service center since it was not <br />part of the original plan. <br />Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele that Hewlett- <br />Packard Corp. be issued a building permit for the original building plan, <br />excluding the service garage addendum. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Councilmember Brown that the <br />proposed service center addendum to the Hewlett-Packard Building be heard <br />at a public hearing to be held at the Regular City Council Meeting of July <br />11, 1979. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Fred Kueppers, attorney for Mr. and Mrs. Norbert I-Iermes, addressed Council FIRE LANE AT <br />regarding the Fire Lane at 1607 W. Larpenteur (Bullseye). Mr. Kueppers 1607 W. <br />reviewed Council's past actions in determining the Fire Lane, signing, and LARPENTEUR <br />parking and requested Council to permit the Fire Lane to be returned to (BULLSEYE) <br />the original plan providing the lane next to the building and along <br />Larpenteur Avenue. Attorney Kueppers informed Council that Mr. and Mrs. <br />Hermes understand that wherever the Fire Lanes are they must be kept free <br />of snow at their expense, even if it means hauling it away, as they under- <br />stand can be a possibility in the event of heavy snowfall. <br />
