Mayor LIABILITY INS <br />Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert that the request be (cont.) <br />granted. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator presented the proposed animal control contract <br />with MAPSI, 506 11th Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN, and requested that <br />he and Mayor Warkentien be authorized to enter into the agreement for <br />1981. Councilmember Brocm moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, <br />that the Mayor and Clerk Administrator be authorized to enter into <br />the agreement for the period from January 1, 1981 to December 12, 1981. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentien presented the Clerk Administrator's request that <br />Erma. Olson, Section 8 Housing Specialist, and George Barbos, part <br />time Clerk at the Liquor Store, receive salary increases effective <br />January 1, 1981. After a short discussion Mayor Warkentien moved, <br />seconded by Councilmember Brawn, that Erma Olson's salary be in- <br />creased to $5.75. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele that George <br />Barbos receive a salary increase of $.50 per hour bringing the hour- <br />ly rate to $4.50. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that he had seen a <br />demonstration of the Votomatic Voting Machines and gave a short ex- <br />planation of the system. After a short discussion Councilmember <br />Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson that the Votamatic <br />System not be considered for Falcon Heights. Motion carried unani- <br />mously. <br />Clerk Administrator informed Council that he has been subpoened and <br />might possibly be required to testify on behalf of the State of MN <br />versus Alfred Ende in respect to non-completion of contracts. One <br />such non-completion exists in Falcon Heights at 1446 W. Iowa. <br />Council discussed the problem of residents planting trees, shrubs, <br />etc. on boulevards in the City. The concensus of opinion was that <br />only plantings that obstruct visibility at intersections should be <br />trimmed or removed. Mayor Warkentien and the Clerk Administrator <br />will check all such plantings to determine which are obstructing <br />visiblity. <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that the City has been requested to <br />submit a nominee for possible appointment to the Board of Trustees <br />of the Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust. Following the discussion it <br />was suggested that Deputy Clerk Rolek be designated as a nominee, if <br />he is willing. <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that he had met with Clint Hewitt <br />of the University of Minnesota regarding a possible building site for <br />the proposed new city hall.
