1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />Minutes <br />April 22, 1976 <br />Page Four <br />4 S .'~ <br />Clem Lehnen, owner of Falcon Lanes, was not present during the <br />alleged violation, but stated that one of the machines on the <br />alleys (No. 7) had broken downy and since there were only two <br />rnen on duty, they were not able to properly supervise the patrons. <br />Dave Beimert, 823 Edmund, St. Paul., one of the men on duty at the <br />Lanes, told of the machine problems and said h® had to pick up <br />sporadically because of ~®se problems. <br />The Mayor read the Sheriff's report regarding the alleged violation, <br />dated April 1t, 1976. <br />Alice Robertson, 17l~1 Holton, spoke on behalf of Mr. Lehnen. She <br />stated she was present at the Lanes that evening and said that the <br />closing and pickup were announced. She also noted that the machine <br />had broken down. <br />Moved by Councilman Ecklund, seconded by Councilman Steele to <br />temporarily suspend for 30 days the On-Sale Non-Intoxicating Malt <br />Liquor License, No. 186, and the Bottle Club License, No. 316, <br />issued to Falcon Lanes, 1550 West Larpenteur Avenue, pending a <br />public hearing on May 13, 1976, at 8:00 p.m., before per-xanent <br />action is taken. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted <br />"aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Stesle, and <br />Labalestra, and the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Residents of the Spi®gler apartment complex at Larpenteur Avenue <br />and Fry Street petitioned the Council, February 12, 1976, for a <br />Median cut in Larpenteur Avenue 280 feet west of Fry Street and <br />for removal of the "No U Turn" sign at Fry Street. The request <br />was referred to the County for their action. The County recom- <br />mended refection of both requests (Letter dated April 13, 1976). <br />Moved by Councilman Stsele, seconded by Councilman Labalestra <br />that the letter from Ramssy County dated April 13, 1976, regarding <br />traffic controls at Larpenteur Avenue and Fry Street be presented <br />to Sam Spiegler, owner of the Falcon Arms Apartments, for his <br />opinion and to inform hint Council took no action this evening. <br />Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "aye" : Mayor War- <br />kentien, Councilmen Black, Eeklund, Steele, and Labalestra, and <br />the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Because of recent State legislation regarding metropolitan <br />planning, the Metro Council has established a land use advisory <br />committee and requested local officials to be appointed to this <br />committee.
