Minutes <br />September 9, 1976 <br />page !t <br />X03 <br />Attorney Kenefick stated that the Ordinance does not include strong <br />beer. Tha only authority in the Ordinance is for wine. At~y beer <br />above 3.2~ would require an on-sale liquor licens®. Attorney Kenefick <br />also stipulated that a corporation can be licensed. The .Ordinance <br />also grants the City the authority to charge a~ investigation fee. <br />Mayor Warkentine read a notice from Clerk-Administrator Barnes to the APPOINT <br />Council in regard to nominees for assistant Fire Chief. The tally was OF ASSISTANT <br />as follows: Jerry Baden - 6 votes, Bob Luey - 9 votes and Leo Lindig - FIRE CHIEF' <br />!~ votes . <br />Moved by Mayor Warkentien, secondeld by Councilman Labalestra to appoint <br />Bob Luey as assistant Fire Chief, replacing the Late Henry Dachtera. <br />Upon a vote being taken the following voted "ayes': Mayor Warkentien, <br />Councilmen Black and Labalestra, and the following voted "nay": None. <br />Councilman Ecklund abstained as he is an active volunteer fireman. <br />Motion carried. <br />Fire Chief Jerry Renchin appeared before Council to request permission <br />to use $61)0.00 of the monies received for State Fair Fire services for <br />headgear and restoration of the fire station floor in the bay area. <br />Mayor Warkentien and Attorney Kenefick Bested that Mr. Renchin inform <br />State Fair officials that the check sho'1d be made payable to the City <br />of Falcon Heights and be deposited in the General Fund. <br />Moved by Councilman Labalestra, seconded by Mayor Warkentien to approp- <br />riate an amount not to exceed $600.00 for neiw headgear and restoration of <br />the Fire Station floor. Upon a vote being taken the following voted <br />"aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen B.Lack, Ecklund and Labalestra, and <br />the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Chief Reachin informed Council that the older fire truck would probably <br />not pass the next inspection and Council should make provisions to set <br />aside at least $25,000.00 per year for the next two years in anticiaption <br />of the need for a neMr track. <br />FIRE EQUIPMENT <br />NEEDED <br />CHIEF' RENCHIN <br />Chief Renchin expressed concern that if the truck does not pass inspec- <br />tion standards the City would be put in a higher fire rating. <br />Mayor Warkentien instructed Clerk-Administrator Barnes to get and approx- <br />imation from the insurance compax~r on the possible ;rate.. increase. <br />RESCUE CAPTAIN <br />Chief Renchin informed Council that Craig Dachtera was elected Co-Cap FIRE RELIEF <br />fain of the Rescue Squad and Cra3.e Schauffert took over as Secretary SECREATRY <br />of the Fire Relief Association. <br />Chief Reachin stated that the fire inspection of the City is done now FIRE INSP$CTION <br />until the heating season starts. COMPLETED <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that Mrs. Ruth D~achtera has accepted APPOINTM@iT OF <br />her appointment as Civil Defense Director for the remainder of the year, RUTH DACHTERA <br />replacing her late husband.
