G <br />1 <br />MINUTES <br />REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />MAY 26, 1977 <br />page 3 <br />Mayor Warkentien opened the public hearing for the <br />Idaho Avenue Curb and Gutter Improvement at 8:00 pm. <br />by directing Clerk Administrator Barnes to read the <br />official notice as published. Clerk Administrator <br />Barnes complied. <br />Engineer Lemberg gave a brief outline as to the <br />scope and cost of the project. <br />Mayor Warkentien then invited comments from Idaho <br />Avenue residents which were as follows: <br />Mr. George Williams, 1341 Idaho Avenue - stated <br />two years ago he installed curbing at a cost of <br />$400.00 and doesn't want new curb and gutters. <br />Also stated there is no standing water near his <br />property. He stated there are only four homes <br />on his block which do not have curbing. <br />Hilding Peterson, 1403 Idaho Avenue - stated he <br />now has bituminous curbing. He read a state- <br />ment written by the Harry Larson's of 1396. <br />The ,arson's wrote they were against the proposed <br />project. Mr. Peterson stated his feelings were <br />the same as the parsons. <br />Merlin A. Ahlberg - 1340 Idaho - stated he sees <br />no need for the improvement and has no problem <br />with standing water. <br />Norm Johnson - 1368 Idaho - stated he is not in <br />favor of the project. He stated there is no <br />drainage problem. <br />Michael Maxwell - 1427 Idaho - he stated he is in <br />favor of the project. He stated that he does have <br />a problem with standing water. <br />Mrs. Ralph K. Morris - 1412 Idaho - she said she <br />likes the countrified look and is not in favor of <br />the project. She stated the City should assess for <br />new trees instead. <br />Mrs. Henrietta Thom - 1402 Idaho - she agrees with <br />Mrs. Morris and does not want the project. <br />David Anderson - 1512 W.
