41 <br />Motion by Councilman Stone, seconded by Councilman Taylor, <br />that the Village advertise for Bids for the 1972 sanitary <br />sewer cleaning & television inspection, to be published <br />three consecutive weeks, June 21, 28, July 5, 1972. Bids <br />are to be taken at 9:00 P.M. July 13, 1972. AYES: Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Stone, Taylor. <br />NAYS: None. Motion carried. <br />Cancellation of notion by Mayor Warkentien, seconded by Councilman Stone, <br />Special Meeting to ratify the cancellation of the special meeting of June 9, <br />of June 9, 1972: 1972. AYES: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Stone. <br />NAYS: Councilmen Ecklund, Taylor. Motion carried. <br />Councilmen Ecklund and Taylor reaffirmed that their vote <br />against the cancellation of the special meeting set for <br />June 9, 1972, should not be interpreted as a call for a <br />special meeting on that date. <br />Meeting to Allow Residents living in the area of Weber's Cottage Inn, 1708 <br />Residents in the North Snelling Avenue, were present to discuss their views <br />Area of Weber's as to the proposed municipal liquor store at the site of <br />Cottage Inn to 1708 North Snelling Avenue. <br />Propose Objections <br />to a P~lunicipal Mr. Vincent Landis, 1538 Crawford Street, presented a <br />Liouor Store: petition with 105 signatures objecting to the liquor store. <br /> Mr. Landis also stated that the Village doesn't know of the <br /> very small percentage of profit realized from a liquor store <br /> these days. He said he is in the business and should know. <br /> Mr. Thomas Nystrom, 1539 Crawford Street asked why $75,000 <br /> was offered by the Village for the building when the balding <br /> was appraised at $68,000, and he also questioned as to how <br /> the Village could renovate the building for $30,000. The <br /> Council replied that an estimate was obtained from a build- <br /> ing contractor. <br />Mrs. Betty Posel, 1728 Simpson Street wanted to know if <br />the Council had at~y way of knowing where all the customers <br />would come from. Council replied that it was expected that <br />some would come from the Village and some from northbound <br />Snelling traffic. <br />Mr. Thomas Clark, 1835 Holton asked the total cost of <br />setting up the liquor store, which couldn't be answered <br />exactly. He wanted to know who decided the liquor store <br />should be located at this site, and he asked if a study <br />should have been made before deciding to buy Weber's <br />Cottage Inn for the liquor store site. Mayor Warkentien <br />replied that studies had been made as to the feasibility <br />of the site and Council had discussed all locations avail- <br />able in the Village. Councilman Black also mentioned to <br />the public in attendance that another more undesirable <br />business could be established at this corner such as a <br />drive-in or a 3.2 liquor establishment. <br />
