Larpenteur Avenue, for a permit to con- <br />struct a garage addition, be app roved and referred to <br />the building inspector. Motion carried. <br />A letter written by Councilwoman Stocker, to Mrs. Loanne <br />Thrane, University of Minnesota Regent, was noted and <br />app roved. <br />Councilman Ecklund introduced the following Resolution <br />and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 73-20 <br />!J <br />A RESOLUTION) AUTHORIZING THE FALCON HEIGHTS VOLUNTEER <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE : 1~, 2~, and 1t INCH FIRE <br />HOSE, TWO 1~ INCH NOZZLES, TWO 2~ INCH AUTOMATIC <br />NOZZLES, ONE 150 FOOT ELECTRIC CORD WITH REEL, ONE <br />10 FOOT FOLDING ATTIC LADDER, ONE 1~t FOOT FOLDING <br />ROOF LADDER WITH FOLDING HOOKS, AND CONTRACTUAL <br />CHANGES ON THE FIRE CHIEF BODY, AMOUNTING TO $300.00, <br />MAKING A TOTAL COST OF $1~,31~8.00 <br />Councilman Stone seconded the foregoing Resolution, and <br />upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in <br />favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, <br />Ecklund and Stone, and Councilwoman Stocker, and the <br />following voted against the same: None. Motion carried. <br />LETTER TO REGENT REGARDING <br />COMMUNITY PARK PROPERTY <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT PURCHASES <br />Councilman Ecklund moved, seconded by Councilman Stone, VOLUNTEER FIREMAN APPLICATIONS <br />to approve the applications for volunteer fireman sub- <br />mitted by Craig Dachtera, John Luey and Michael Clarkin, <br />subject to a physical and six months probation. Motion <br />carried. <br />Councilman Ecklund stated that the fire department will <br />be needing added equipment for the new firemen, and also <br />stated that they are in need of a new hose dryer. <br />Councilman Ecklund moved that the following streets <br />be posted as no parking on a designated side of the <br />street for reasons of safety and public health, during <br />the State Fair, August 21~ through September 3, 1973• <br />The streets to be posted are: No parking on the west <br />side of Arona between Larpenteur and Hoyt; the north <br />side of Hoyt from Hamline to Snelling Drive; the north <br />side of California, Idaho and Iowa between Snelling <br />Drive and Pascal; east side of Fry between Larpenteur <br />and Garden; west side of St. Mary's; south side of <br />Maple Kno11, south side of Garden between Snelling and <br />Fry. Motion was withdrawn for lack of a second. <br />Engineer Lemberg presented the proposed plans of project <br /># P-0308, for the reconstruction of Cleveland Avenue, <br />north on Como Avenue, which is a joint project of Ramsey <br />County and the City of St. Paul. The plans include <br />improvement of curbs and sidewalks, protection for th e <br />existing trees along Cleveland, installation of catch <br />basins and reconstruction of the street surface.
