1 Councilman Black moved, seconded by Councilman Ecklund, MANDO PHOTO BUILDING PERMIT that the application for a building permit by Mando Photo, 1790 W. Larpenteur Avenue, for a permit to con- struct a garage addition, be app roved and referred to the building inspector. Motion carried. A letter written by Councilwoman Stocker, to Mrs. Loanne Thrane, University of Minnesota Regent, was noted and app roved. Councilman Ecklund introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION 73-20 !J A RESOLUTION) AUTHORIZING THE FALCON HEIGHTS VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE : 1~, 2~, and 1t INCH FIRE HOSE, TWO 1~ INCH NOZZLES, TWO 2~ INCH AUTOMATIC NOZZLES, ONE 150 FOOT ELECTRIC CORD WITH REEL, ONE 10 FOOT FOLDING ATTIC LADDER, ONE 1~t FOOT FOLDING ROOF LADDER WITH FOLDING HOOKS, AND CONTRACTUAL CHANGES ON THE FIRE CHIEF BODY, AMOUNTING TO $300.00, MAKING A TOTAL COST OF $1~,31~8.00 Councilman Stone seconded the foregoing Resolution, and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund and Stone, and Councilwoman Stocker, and the following voted against the same: None. LETTER TO REGENT REGARDING COMMUNITY PARK PROPERTY FIRE DEPARTMENT PURCHASES Councilman Ecklund moved, seconded by Councilman Stone, VOLUNTEER FIREMAN APPLICATIONS to approve the applications for volunteer fireman sub- mitted by Craig Dachtera, John Luey and Michael Clarkin, subject to a physical and six months probation. Motion carried. Councilman Ecklund stated that the fire department will be needing added equipment for the new firemen, and also stated that they are in need of a new hose dryer. Councilman Ecklund moved that the following streets be posted as no parking on a designated side of the street for reasons of safety and public health, during the State Fair, August 21~ through September 3, 1973• The streets to be posted are: No parking on the west side of Arona between Larpenteur and Hoyt; the north side of Hoyt from Hamline to Snelling Drive; the north side of California, Idaho and Iowa between Snelling Drive and Pascal; east side of Fry between Larpenteur and Garden; west side of St. Mary's; south side of Maple Kno11, south side of Garden between Snelling and Fry. Motion was withdrawn for lack of a second. Engineer Lemberg presented the proposed plans of project # P-0308, for the reconstruction of Cleveland Avenue, north on Como Avenue, which is a joint project of Ramsey County and the City of St. Paul. The plans include improvement of curbs and sidewalks, protection for th e existing trees along Cleveland, installation of catch basins and reconstruction of the street surface.
