will come from the Civil Defense budget, and $72.00 from
the Contigency Fund.
Upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in
favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund,
and Stone, and the following voted against the same:
Councilwoman Stocker. Motion carried.
Councilwoman Stocker stated that she and Clerk-Adminis-
trator Barnes met with John Libby, Secretary-General
Manager of the Minnesota State Fair to discuss the
problem of providing ample parking space for people
attending the fair. She stated that they discussed
the idea of running shuttlebuses from shopping center
parking lots to the fair in order to eliminate some
of the congestion in the Village and surrounding areas.
This proposal has been made to the Metropolitan Transit
Commission and the Fair Board and Metro Transit are at
this time negotiating. If an agreement is reached,
shuttlebuses would probably be run from the Rosedale
Shopping Center, Har Mar Shopping Center, and the old
Spartan Atlantic Shopping Center.
Councilman Ecklund moved, seconded by Councilman Stone,
that the following streets be posted as no parking on
a designated side of the street for reasons of safety
and public health, and in order to allow for the passage
of emergency vehicles, during the State Fair, August
21~, through September 3, 1973. The streets to be posted
are: No parking on the west side of Arona between
Larpenteur and Hoyt; the north side of California,
Idaho and Iowa, between Snelling Drive and Pascal;
the north side of Hoyt from Hamline to Snelling Drive;
the east side of Fry between Larpenteur and Garden;
west side of St. Mary's; south side of Maple Kno11;
south side of Garden between Snelling and Fry.
Upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in
favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Ecklund
and Stone, and Councilwoman Stocker, and the following
voted against the same: Councilman Black. Motion
carried.
Councilman Black moved, seconded by Councilwoman Stocker,
to approve the variance request submitted by Marvin
Flodin, 1u66 W. Larpenteur, for the construction of a
six car garage 60' x 20', the south side of said
garage to be set on the south lot line and the west side
not to be closer than two feet to the west lot line,
and the existing parking spaces east of the garage
shall not extend closer than two feet to the east lot
line, subject to EngineerLemberg's property line
report, and the approval of the Falcon Heights Planning
Commission at their meeting of August 7, 1973.
Motion carried.
It was also stipulated that the roof of the garage may
not extend over the property line, and that the proper
permits must be procured before beginning construction.
~ 61
STATE FAIR PARKING -
SHUTTLEBUSES
STATE FAIR PARKING
POSTING "NO PARKING" SIGNS
VARIANCE - 11166 W.
