lac
Engineer Lemberg: "No comment."
Attorney Kenefick: "No comment."
Representative Dieterich stated, "Yes, I do have one or two comments.
One, I'm sitting up here and can't see at~}r expressions and I hope that
the people aren't worried about running out and selling their homes and
that sort of thing. But I think these people have a long, long way to
go. For any private land they have to go through the Faleon Heights City
Council; for any development of this size they would have to go through
the Metropolitan Council, which would consider the questions that have
dust been raised on roads, sewer, and transit. The impact statement
would require information on air pollution, congestion, the surrounding
zoning changes, and this type of thing, and hopefully they would have to
convince the Governor that this is something he should get away from his
busy schedule to go and .build the domed stadium on the Fair Grounds. I
think they realize that I'm opposed to this as Representative of the
western half of Falcon Heights, and have been for a long time."
Mr. Nemeth then stated, "In response to the comments of Mr. Black, we
certainly did have some reservations toward this project you under-
stand, and we want to appear honest and forthright with you, and you
certainly know what our intentions are that we are exploring the project
in one variation or another, and we realize you have a long road to
travel. So, we very much appreciate the attitude to the questions and
interests expressed here tonight."
Representative Walter Hansen commented, "I am sure Neil Dieterich ex-
pressed quite adequately the steps that are going to have to be taken."
He then mentioned that he had spoken with John Boland of the Metropolit
Council, and mentioned to the effect that even changing the traffic pat
would imrolve the Metropolitan Council. He then stated, "Representativ
Dieterich and I will do all we can on the State level to make sure that
the people of Falcon Heights have the final voice in what happens here,
after a11; it is the people that will be affected."
George Plant, Chairman of the Planning Commission: "No comment."
an
tern
e
Mayor Wiesen of Lauderdale: "No comment."
Mr. Brinkerhoff, Vice President of the University of Minnesota, "The
gentlemen have properly reported the conversation they had with the
University about six months ago, and they are primarily noncommittal.
We are against the concept of any development on University property."
Dr. Hueg had left earlier, stating "that he had heard it three times,
and is now all the more against it."
Mr. Mike Heffron, Assistant G'sneral Manager of the .State Fair Grounds,
stated, "I would like to reiterate what Vice President Brinkerhoff said,
fh at the Fair Board is likewise opposed to the utilization of Fair Ground
property. The Fair Board is neither a proponent or an opponent of AGRO-
mart. We have been on record since June 1, 1971 with a resolution in
respect to this proposal as follows ."
"A delegation representing several Minneapolis architectural,
engineering, and construction interests, identifying themselves
as World AGROmart Associates, appeared before the Board to pre-
sent site and general concept plans for conversion of the Fair
Grounds to an International Agricultural Trade 8enter.
