He also noted that the Planning <br />Commission would not have the authority to grant this. Attorney <br />Skor felt that the Council had three alternativies: 1. Refer <br />the matter to the Planning Commission. 2. Take steps to amend <br />Ord. btu to permit this. 3. ~ nothing. Councilman Black <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Steele, do deny the permit on the <br />grounds that a provision to permit such a center does not exist <br />in the Ordinance, and to refund the $5.00 fee. Motion carried. <br />Mrs. Yabe1's request for "no parking" signs to be placed in <br />front of her driveway at 2099 Hoyt was discussed. It was <br />noted that the reason forthe request was that University <br />students park there, and she can not get out of her driveway. <br />It was noted, howeter, that she has a sixteen foot garage, and <br />a driveway that is wider than the garage, in which she should <br />have enough room to get out of. The Council decided that the <br />students parking there is a police matter, and that the police <br />should be directed to issue tickets to any offenders that might <br />park closer than three feet d~ her driveway. Engineer Lemberg <br />suggested looking into the matter after school starts to see <br />if there are at~p- other problems, and not until that time. <br />Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Councilman Ecklund, to <br />deny the request for "no parking" signs. Motion carried. <br />The Council decided to defer the Commercial Parking Lot <br />Maintenance Discussion until the neast meeting. <br />Salary increases for Falcon Heights personnel were dis- <br />cussed by the Council. Clerk-Administrator Barnes to <br />$18 800.00, Vincent Wright to $10,920.00, William Garlick <br />to $7,710.00, and T. R. Williams to $8,100.00 respectively. <br />LiquorStore personnels George Willkom to $15,000.00, John <br />Sosniecki to $8,78t~.00, and Joseph Strayaew.ski to $2.85 per <br />hour, respectively. Councilman Labalestra noted that employees <br />that average 30 hours per week or more should be entitled to <br />one week paid vacation after one year. Mayor Warkentien <br />mo+~ed, seconded by Councilman Black, to approve the proposed <br />salary increases for Falcon Heights personnel effective <br />January 1, 1975. Motion carried. <br />Clerk-~dmin3.strator Barnes presented three possible insurance <br />companies to cover Falcon Heights personnel for 1975, rich <br />were Upper Midwest, National Association Service, and North <br />Star F~nployment underwritten by Gamble A1.den. He further <br />proceeded to discuss the merits of the three, and suggested <br />to the Council that North Star would be the best. Councilman <br />Black stated that he had not heard of any of the three, and <br />that th~* should be checked on.
