2593 <br />WHEREAS, said storm caused severe damage to <br />property within the village, and caused a large number <br />of the trees within the village to be damaged and destroyed, <br />and the trees on the boulevards within the village were <br />also damaged and destroyed; and power lines within the <br />village were felled creating danger to the residents of <br />the village; and <br />WHEREAS, the damage to and destruction of said trees <br />on public property created dangerous and hazardous condi- <br />tions within the Village in that (a) streets and sidewalks <br />were obstructed by trees so as to prevent free and uninterr- <br />upted use of said streets and sidewalks, (b) limbs of <br />trees vrere left hanging and capable of falling on persons, <br />(c) fallen trees were created attractions and dangers to <br />younger persons, and <br />WHEREAS, the above conditions created a state of <br />emergency within the village, and it became necessary to <br />correct the situation immediately, and <br />WHEREAS, the members of the village council, after <br />meeting and inspection of the village, had determined it <br />was necessary, expedient and in the best interests of the <br />Village to remove the damaged and downed trees from public <br />property immediately, and <br />WHEREAS, Northland Tree Service Company was contacted <br />and was available to do the emergency work, and was able <br />to commence said work immediately, and <br />WHEREAS, said members agreed that Northland Tree <br />Service should proceed with emergency work immediately, and <br />WHEREAS, said work was performed from July 1, 1967 <br />to July 20, 1967, and was completed on July 20, 1967, and <br />WHEREAS, Northland Tree Service has presented its <br />statement for services and rendered for said emergency work <br />in the amount of X7,173.00, which statement the council has <br />found to be fair and reasonable and that work has been <br />satisfactorily performed, <br />NOW, THEREFOF~E, BE IT RESOLVED AS FE3~LLCAAS s <br />1. The statement of Northland Tree Service in the <br />amount of X7,173.00 is hereby approved for payment. <br />2. The action of the members of the council on <br />contracting for said services are hereby ratified and <br />confirmed. <br />Motion was duly seconded by Strandquist and upon a vote <br />being taken, the following voted for sames Nilsen, <br />Strandquist, Stohe, Black and Warkentien and the following <br />voted against same: None. Whereupon said motion was carried <br />Unfinished Repair Nilsen moved, seconded by Black that the Northland Tree <br />and Pruning of Service be authorized to complete the necessary limb <br />Trees: removal, tree .repair and tree removal as a result of the <br />
