this sum out of the Village Hall and Fire Station Sinking Fund ~ ~'`"'~
and deposit it in the "Sanitary Sewer No.l- Sinking Fund Account"
at the Falcon Heights State Hank, also to correct an error.
Falcon Letter of September 15th from the Planning Commission, regarding their
Woods recommendations for Falcon Woods No. 2- was read. A general dis-
No.2. cussion followed. Nilsen advised he and Shavor had sat in on a meet-
ing with the Hermes Board of Directors. Ewald Hermes had talked
multiple dwellings for the back of his property. Generally speaking,
the original street plan seemed to meet with their approval. It all
comes back to where they have no final idea what they intend to do
or when.. Ewald talked about a Com-nercial Entrance but Ljungren
questions whether they would want it there. If they went through
with a 60' road, either the hoose or garage would have to go, and
they would lose one apartment site.. Hawkins doesn't know definitely
what he will do or when. Nobody knows what the University may do.
Hawkins said he ~o uld like to see water go south and west, and
would see that it would not drain onto Tatum. Ljungren stated we
would not be running any more water into Falcon Woods No. 1-. All
streets in Falcon Woods No. 2 will drain south - away from Falcon
Woods No.l. Gage said he will move the bank back maybe !~' to give
Falcon ~'Yoods No. 1 a little larger back yard. He would have the
slope so that 1/2 would belong to Falcon Woods No. 1 and 1/2 to
Falcon Woods No. 2. Ljungren says there is a good chance the City
of St. Paul will bring a 2!t" water main on Larpenteur all the way
to Eustis some time next year. Ljungren said there is no problem
at all with the Sanitary Sewer. Sewer on Autumn is of adequate
depth to allow all the new subdivision to flow north and still main-
tain a minimum of 7' of cover over the new sewer. Manholes are pNt~o-
vided at the center of the cul-de-sac on both Moore and Howell.
When the rest of the area is developed, it will be served by sanitary
sewer running north from Larpenteur along ~doore, and connecting to the
new manhole to be constructed in the center of the cul-de-sac on this
street. Prior, Howell, Garden and Dionne will then connect to the
Howell Avenue sewer.
Regarding certifying the street plan to the Register of Deeds,
Hawkins doesn't know just what changes the future might bring. He
does not want to tie himself down to lot sizes, etc,, but•they will
have to fall within limits set up by ordinances.
Nilsen reported that the latest developments had been discussed with
three members of the Planning Commission on Wednesday, September
2l~th, (Cartwright, Ctis, Christensen) including Village Engineer's
latest report and plans. They reported no objection to the plat
of Falcon Woods No. 2 itself, and reluctantly gave verbal approval
to go ahead, with Falcon Woods No. 2; stating that this was a continua-
tion of piece-meal planning of which they did not approve, but real-
ized the problems that can not now seem to be resolved.
Petition Petition dated 9/23/58, signed by 38 residents of the Maple Knoll
Regarding Area, was read. It stated: "The undersigned residents of the Maple
Streets Knoll Area consider the condition of their streets unsatisfactory and
Mapl® wish to call attention to the following: 1. Large areas of Maple
Knoll Knoll Drive and Garden Avenue are spongy. This is not due to tempera-
Area ture. 2. barge areas are checkered or cracked and already breaking
up. This is not due to excessive traffic, because traffic on Garden
Avenue is very limited. The surface started slipping and breaking up
within a few days after the contractor finished working on those
streets. 3. Tho the contractor has made a patch here or there once
a week or so, he has made no effort to correct these conditions all
