~L V~~
around. It appears to us that a patch might have been made where
an individual home owner called in a complaint -- and no more. !t.
We would ob3ect to having more oil and sand put on the streets until
proper repairs have been made, because the oil would merely serve to
cover up the poor condition of the street. 5. The undersigned
would like to have a meeting with the Council at their next
Council meeting to discuss the matter in detail. If you will
advise one of the undersigned of the date and time, they will be
present.
Mr. Wm. Korstad and Mr. E. W. Spring were present to represent the
residents of the Maple Knoll Area. They were advised: Tests had
been taken which showed the base to be satisfactory. The trouble
seemed to be caused by improper volatizing of the bituminous
material and trapped moisture. Craig Company .had agreed to come
in and scarify the streets and re-roll them. Steffes, of TKDA &
Associates, had recom^~ended the addition of a coarser material
which should result in a harder surface and a higher crown. The
addition of this coarser material would cost from four to
eight hundred dollars. .Spring advised the drainage was "Wonderful" --
he thinks the problem is to correct the grading and not the crown.
It was determined that it would cost less to have this work done now
than to wait until Spring. Therefor, it was moved by Shavor,
seconded by Coppini and unanimously voted that the recommendation of
Pdr. Steffes' to bring in some additional bituminous material in
connection with the reworking of the streets in the Maple Knoll Area
be authorized with the understanding that the total cost will not
exceed X800.00; and that the Village Engineer, Vern L~ungren, work
with Steffes on the streets in the Maple Knoll Area, paying parti-
cular attention to the curves.
Fire It was moved by Warkentien, seconded by Utecht and unanimously
Dept. voted to approve requisition #151 for the Fire Department.
Req.
San. Serr. After discussion, it was moved by Utecht, seconded by Shavor and
Insp. by unanimously voted that the Village Engineer be authorized to ad-
City of vise the City of St. Paul to inspect Falcon Heights' Sewer System
St. Paul according to their letter of September 11, 1958, at a time when
they are able to give us their most competent men.
Past due The matter of referring past due Sewer Rental bills to the County
Surer Auditor for addition to the tax statements was referred to
Rental Attorney Graham.
Douglas Attorney Graham will have copies made of L3ungren's survey of the
Rees' drainage problem, and recommendations for the correction of same,
Prop. and forward them to Mr. Rees with the suggestion that Mr. Rees
study them and then contact Mr. Graham at which time they will
arrange a meeting with Village Officials to discuss the matter.
Drainage L~ungren suggests filling up low spots and seeing what happens.
Simpson He thinks this process will eliminate 75% of the standing water
& Craw- and spread the rest. They will use a power broom to sweep out
ford. the water and the work should be done in a short time.
Drainag® Shavor thinks the drainage condition here is somewhat better than
Pascal & it was, but there was water standing clear across the street
Idaho Sunday. L~ungren thinks the only solution is to cut a "Seaborn"
dip and hope that that will drain it.
n
~~
1
1
