l09l~ Dust Univ. Letter of October 3rd from the University of Minnesota, of Minn. signed by Theo. Fenske, Associate Dean, Institute of Prop. Agriculture, was read. Letter stated they have oiled. north- south roads. North ~=oundary Road south of Larpenteur h.as been closed off. They intend to get that into grass -- it is part of their experimental plot and, th?refore, cannot be oiled. The Asst. Clerk was instructed to call Mr. Lindig and relay this message. Larpenteur Letter of October 2nd from Attorney Graham regarding proposed. Avenue improvement of Larpenteur Avenue was read. It stated ?ter. Improvement Anker of the County Engineer's office advised him sufficient funds will be available so that Larpenteur Avenue should be imt~roved from St. Mary's Street west. to the County line. Plans do not call for putting storm sewer under Larpenteur west of St. Mary's on Larpenteur. Because of the uncertainty of the status of the intersection at Larpenteur and Snelling, they are going to do nothing at this time between Arona and St. Mary's, on Larpenteur. bor. Holzer, Supt. of i'+ater Distribution, City of St. Paul, advised that the City of St. Paul has no plans and no necessity for extending a water main down Larpenteur west of St. Mary's. If anything is to be done in this connection, it would have to be done by the Village or paid. by assessments on the benefitted properties. Ancker advised. plans do not call for storm sewer under Larpenteur west of St. Mary's. They feel existing ditches and crossings at Fry and east of Cleveland will take care of normal drainage. Holzer stated that if the Village has any plans for water main in this area, it should be done before street work is commenced. He advised that there is a 16-' main up the center of Snelling to appro~dtnattely the middle of Larpenteur Avenue. If we can get permission from the State to cross Snelling to make this connection, we could make either a 16" or a 12" connection and carry it down Larpenteur Avenue. Holzer estimated a 16" main, if put in before Larpenteur was improved, would cost about X12.50 per foot while a 12" main would cost only about 910.00 a foot. Holzer also suggested 6" crossings which could be put in and capped at a cost of about X5.50 afoot. Nilsen pointed out that in view of the fact that it cost approximately 91200.00 to install a pump at each home, it might be well to consult with the owners of undeveloped land, as the cost of the pumps would go a long way towards paying for the water line which would give water to future homes and greater fire protection. After discussion, it was moved by Shavor, seconded by Nilsen and unanimously voted to refer the letter to Vern Ljungren for study and recommendation as to size of pipe and rough estimate of costs. Fee Letter of September 21~th from the Village of Edina, requesting Schedules information on fee schedules for planning functions, was read. It was moved by Utecht, seconded by Shavor and unanimously voted that we give them the proper information and request a copy of the results of their survey as offered.
