MINUTES <br />JULY 22, 1987 <br />PAGE 3 <br />59 <br />ROCK-A-FELLAS LICENSES APPROVED FOR A 90 DAY PERIOD <br />Baldwin moved, seconded by Wallin, approval of Rock-A-Fellas licenses <br />(Lunchroom, Pool Tables, Amusement Machines, Cigarette, and On-Sale <br />Non-Intoxicating Malt Liquor) for a period of 90 days, and if efforts to <br />solve problems at the establishment have been satisfactory, the licenses <br />will automatically be extended, if not satisfactory, Mr. Dahlin will be <br />notif ied of .that fact 10 days in advance of the end of the 90 day period. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />NO ACTION TAKEN ON WINFIELD DEVELOPMENT <br />Representatives of Winf field Development were not in attendance to make <br />their presentation. <br />AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 6-1.01, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES <br />Wiessner explained State Statute has been amended to allow sale of <br />intoxicating malt liquor at establishments holding both an on-sale wine <br />license and an on-sale non-intoxicating malt liquor license, and that <br />Chinatown Restaurant and Shakey's would both be eligible. Wiessner stated <br />that the owner of Chinatown has expressed interest in selling intoxicating <br />malt liquor. Following a short discussion Ciernia moved, seconded by <br />Chenoweth, adoption of Ordinance 0-87-5. Motion carried unanimously. <br />ORDINANCE 0-87-5 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-1.01, SUBDVISION 3 <br />(ALCOHOLIC BEVERGES) OF THE CODE BY ADDING SECTION (C) <br />WINE AND INTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR <br />REQUEST FOR SEWER REPAIR REIMBURSMENT FROM MRS. C. F. PETERSON, 1522 <br />CRAWFORD, DENIED <br />Baldwin presented a letter from Mrs. Peterson dated July 1, 1987 <br />requesting reimbursement in the amount of $862.50 for repair of her sewer <br />line. Based on information provided by Vince Wright and Plumbing Inspector <br />Richard Alquist, Ciernia moved, seconded by Wallin, denial of the request <br />as there was insufficient evidence the problem was City related, and there <br />was strong evidence the problem was due to tree roots. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />NEW TRUCK TO BE PURCHASED FOR PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT <br />Wiessner informed that the City's one ton 1974 Ford Public Works truck <br />died on July 7, 1987 and mechanics at Harvest States felt the truck is not <br />worth repairing. After discussing the options available Ciernia moved, <br />seconded by Wallin, replacing the truck with a new truck at a cost of <br />approximately $20,000, and directing Wiessner to appropriate the funds for <br />payment from standing reserves. Motion carried unanimously. <br />PUBLIC WORKS TO RENT TRUCK FOR IMMEDIATE USE <br />Wiessner explained there is immediate need for another truck while <br />awaiting purchase of the new vehicle, and requested Council consider the <br />options, truck rental, or use of an employee's vehicle. Chenoweth moved, <br />seconded by Wallin, rental of a truck for use during the interim period. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />
