He had priced the equipment which he felt was <br />necessary for the constables, as follows: <br /> <br />1 <br />Matteson was to have checked regarding the cost of the ad- <br />ditional insurance necessary on the constables cars while <br />they are being used for patrolling. The committee made <br />recommendations regarding the amount of fine for various <br />violations and it was felt that there should be an ordinance <br />covering it. Rechtiene suggested that some remuneration <br />should probably be given to the constables for the work done <br />prior to the adoption of the ordinance. It was also the' <br />recommendation of the committee that police marshalls be <br />appointed. A motion was made by Lindig, seconded by Rys- <br />gaard, that the entire matter of the public safety (such <br />as violations, fines, appointment of village police offi- <br />cers, eta.) be referred to Frank Graham. Motion carried. <br />Rysgaard moved, seconded by Lindig, that the public safety <br />committee be authorized to purchase the following items: <br />2 Smith and Wesson revolvers, 2 holsters, 200 cartridges, <br />2 pair hand cuffs, 2 saps, 2 chrome cap badges, 2 caps, <br />2 first aid kits. Motion carried. <br />It was the further recommendation of the Public Safety <br />committee that the fines collected be kept in a separate <br />fund and the operating expense for the public safety be <br />kept in the same account. <br />Acceptance of Bids H. E. Anderson reported that the fire protection committee <br />on fire truck and fire .were agreed that the lowest bid meeting specifications on <br />hose -recommendation the fire truck was the one received from the Flour City <br />of committee. It was al- <br />so the committees recommendation that the bid received <br />from the Eureka Fire Hose Company for 500 feet of 22" <br />hose at X1.27 per foot and 300 feet of 12" hose at .89 <br />per foot was the lowest bid meeting specifications. <br />Ceixtificates of In- .There was some discussion regarding possible ways of pay- <br />debtedness discussion ing for this equipment. Frank Graham reported that the <br />new village code provides that the village council may <br />authorize issuance of certificates of indebtedness up to <br />1~ of the assessed valuation for fire equipment without <br />the vote of the people. It is necessary to advertise <br />for bids on the certificates of indebtedness the same <br />as for bids on the bonds. The certificates must be paid <br />within 5 years and it is necessary that the village make <br />a tax levy for- their payment. <br />Acceptance of bid of Upon motion by Rysgard, seconded by Lindig, the following <br />Flour City BodM Corp. resolution was adopted: RESOLVED that the bid of Flour <br />
