Lindig seconded the motion for the adoption of
the said resolution.
Before the motion was ,put to the meeting, Ray Schommer, 11G97 yP.
Idaho, asked if he might be heard. His request being granted
he made a plea to have the rezoning denied. He acted as spokes-
manfor the various adjacent property owners who were opposed to
the rezoning. These residents objected to the rezoning on the
basis that it was their opinion the multiple row houses would
decrease the valuation of their homes. Ray Schommer added there
would be no objection to the building of duplexes on this
property.
Mayor Matteson, speaking on behalf of the council, advised that
it was the opinion of the council that the multiple row houses
would be as desirable as duplexes,. that the shape of the land
was more suitable for row houses than for duplexes, that the
proposed row houses would act as a proper buffer between the
residential section proper and the business section, and that
the council had to view the problem from the overall picture
of the village so far as improvement of the land was concerned.
