Shavor moved that the purchase of such supplies and fix- <br />tures be referred to the Fire Protection committee. Seconded <br />by Stewart and carried. <br />Fire Chief to In conneotion with letting the Village H411 out to various <br />keep Village groups, Lindig moved that the Fira Chief be authorized to <br />Hall date book. keep a date book with datings, subject to approval by the <br />Mayor. Seconded by Henry and motion carried. <br />100 Lyon metal The clerk then reported as to unsatisfactory results in adver- <br />folding chairs tieing for up to 100 used metal folding chairs. Said he then <br />ordered. contacted the State purchasing department and others purchasing <br />new chairs in large lots, to get their ideas as to sources of <br />supply and on particular makes of chairs that have given long- <br />time service. Sample metal folding ohairs or descriptive <br />literature on them were then examined by the council, and the <br />following offers considered: <br />Auel Equipment Co., 100 #1503 Lyon all-metal folding ch airs, <br />$2.95 each, delivered. <br />McClai~i & Hedman Co., 100 181 Norcor folding chairs, <br />$2.85 sac h, delivered. <br />Montgomery Ward Co.., metal folding chair, 100 delivered <br />at X2.85 each. <br />Farnham Stationery 8c School Supply Co., "Ionia" folding <br />chairs, 50 or more, ~3.3b each. <br />Curtis 1,000, "Sampson" 1600 tubular plain metal folding <br />chair, 100 ~ X4.20 each, delivered. <br />Lindig~moved, seconded by Rekstad, that the Village purchase <br />100 Lyon metal folding chairs from the Auel Equipment Company <br />for X2.95 each, delivered to the Village Ha11, as per sample <br />Lyon chair shown and demonstrated at the meeting - the duel <br />Equipment Company's offer being the lowest responsible offer <br />on this particular chair. <br />12 ft. lane John O'Keefe, x.743 N. Albert, referred to a 12-foot lane <br />between Albert between Albert and Holton, used by pedestrians to go from <br />de Holton. one street to another, and asked if he could close it off <br />with ornamental posts or gates. Attorney Graham advised <br />Mr. O'Keefe that the way to handle the matter is to present <br />a petition to the council who will then set a date for a <br />hearing on it. <br />1 <br />1 <br />Sheriff Gibbons Sheriff Gibbons was then introduced to members of the c wncil <br />and Public Safety and to members of the public safety committee who were <br />Committee. ~ present. The sheriff said that prior to incprporation of <br />the Village it was difficult for his office to contact and <br />work with the community, due to lack of a central organization. <br />Stated that regardless of our now being an ineprporated village, <br />that the sheriff will provide us with the same kind of policing <br />as furnished previously. But realized in order to give the <br />service desired that it would require having one cari 24 hours <br />a day in each of the townships and 14 additional deputies. <br />Said the service we are getting now consists of one cart west <br />and one cars[ east oP Rice street. On traffic problems in <br />the Village, Gibbons said the County Surveyor ~ig~h~A be con- <br />sulted. The sheriff also said that he would appreciate meeting <br />
