William Uteoht Said there were those opposed to and those in favor of having some protection of our own in the Village, and asked if the aherifP felt we should have some local protection. The sheriff replied that the Village should decide on what to do on their own policing, it being something that would increase as population in our com- munity increased. Walter Schiel Inquired as to the need of trained personnel for local protection. The sheriff said that F.B.I. and police schools ark now set up~to provide this training. G. I. Lodahl Referred to our present police setup whereby the Fire Department is called to get one or both of our local police, and if neither is home, that it is necessary to call the sheriff's office. Gibbons advised calling the sheriff's office first, but on inquiry by Fire Chief Swanson it was agreed that certain calls not re- quiring the sheriff's services could be deferred until local police could be contacted.
