13 ~` <br />Fire Underwriters John Rysgaard, Chairman, Fire Protection committee, stated it <br />requirements. was his understanding the council was to take action as of <br /> this data on the Fire Underwriters requirements and. the <br /> recommendation of the Fire Protection committee. Shavor <br /> reported discussing the matter with W.C. Freitag, ofthe <br /> Underwriters, who said that having two paid man on our <br /> Fire Department was a temporary arrangement to take Dare oP <br /> the situat ion after the standby arrangem ant with St Paul <br /> had bean discontinued, and that in order to retain the class <br /> 8 insurance rating in the village, we must have three paid <br /> men to take care of time off. In view of this being the middle <br /> of our budget year, Mr. Freitag agreed to continue the present <br /> insursnce classification and to postpone the effective date of <br /> the Underwriters requirements to the Pirat of the Year, provided <br /> the Yillage would advise the Fire Underwriters by letter that <br /> they would put on three paid men at the beginning of 1951. <br /> Rekstad said those in the Class 9 areas of the Yillage should <br /> not be made to wait any longer for a reduction in fire insurance <br /> rates, and urged that the Fire Underwriters requirements be <br />Three paid oomplied with by July 1st, so as to extend the class 8 rating to <br />men. all parts of the Yillage area. On request, the Treasurer re- <br /> ported on financing this additional Fire Department expense, <br /> stating it would require issuing tax anticipation certificates. <br /> After discussing the financing, the meeting was recessed For <br /> five minutes. Meeting reconvened at 10:05 pm., and after <br /> further discussion, Shavor moved that the written report oP the <br /> Fire Protection committee, dated June 27, 1950, be accepted, <br /> approved and filed, and that the requirements as set forth in <br /> the Fire Underwriters letter of May 8, 1950, and as modified by <br /> their letter of June 8, 1950, be oomplied with by July 1, 1950, <br /> or as soon as possible thereafter, ao that the class 8 rating <br /> may be secured and retained in the entire village area, and that <br /> the Mayor be authorised to see that all necessary steps are taken <br /> to accomplish this. Building Inspector was asked <br /> to check and report on the matter. <br />Gertrude L. Zettel Building Inspector Reichow reported receiving a letter Prom <br />protests issuing Gertrude L. Zettel, protesting the council's aotion in issuing <br />oP screen house a special permit to E.Y. Moore for construction of a portable <br />permit. screen house on a lot Pacing Asbury and adjoining lot on which <br /> the Moore dwelling is located. Mrs. Zettel stated the permit <br /> violates private restrictions and unless revoked, she will have <br /> her attorney file damages against the village. Attorney Graham <br /> advised that said special permit does not authorise violating <br /> of private restrictions, and that any suit for damages should <br /> bs filed against the owner receiving the permit, not the Village. <br /> Graham will write the complainant to this effect. <br />Civil Defense Henry brou ght up the matter of recommending appointment oP some <br /> qualified person to head the Civil Defense program in the Yillage. <br /> Rekstad moved appointment of William Olson, 1764 N.
