Chairman Hustrulid reported to the council that he had discussed <br />Committee with the Fire Chief and vdth some of the volunteer firemen the <br />matter of changing drill night to other than council meeting <br />nights. It developed that Tuesday nights are the most favorable <br />drill so far as the volunteers are eancerned, which Hustrulid said seems <br />to justify making no change at this time. <br />vacations ?iustrulid reviewed vacation schedules for firemen in each of <br />the Twin Cities, in Columbia Heights and in South St Paul. <br />Said it was the committee's recommendation that the Fire Chief <br />and two paid firemen be allowed pa id.vacations. In connection <br />with relief man needed in case vacations are authorized, said <br />the Fire Chief reported Earl Grumke would be available for this <br />work. <br />Dry R. Stenberg, representi.iagnproperty owners on Crawford, appeared <br />Cleaners before the council in connection with proposed ordinance on <br />dry cleaners. Draft of the proposed ordinance was read, and <br />the Village Attorney was directed to send a corrected copy of <br />the proposed ordinance to Mr. P. Easpel, Manager, Falcon Dry <br />Cleaners, stating the council would be glad to go over it with <br />him at their meeting Tuesday evening June 10, 1952, and toricon- <br />sider his comments or suggestions. <br />State Fire Cnnsidoatntt~dat~pas given to request that the Fire Department be <br />Dept. Convention represented at the Minnesota State Fire Department convention. <br />On motion by Rekstad, seconded by Shavor, it was voted to authorize <br />the Fire Chief and a delegate chosen by the volunteer firemen to <br />attend the Minnesota State Fire Department Annual Convention, at <br />Pequot Lakes, June 9-10 and 11, 1952, and to allow expenses fo r <br />both as listed on Claim Nol 1433 dated ray 2?, 1952. <br />Election After discussion of proposal to have two election districts <br />districts instead of one as at present, and on motion by Henry, seconded <br />by Stewart, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote: <br />Resolution - RESOLVED, that the Village of Falcon Heights be divided into two <br />election districts, one distri et to be composed of that portion <br />of the Village located west of the center line of Snelling avenue, <br />with voting place for this di stri ct to be at the Village Hall, <br />1644 West Larpenteur avenue, to be known as District Nv. 1; the <br />other district to be composed of that portion of the Yillage lying <br />east of the center line of Snelling avenue, with the voting place <br />for this district to be at the L. & L. Appliance Store, 1534 Larpenteur <br />Avenue West, to be known as District 11TO. 2, end that the Yillage Clerk <br />be directed to notify the County Auditor and to post the necessary <br />notice as required by law. <br />Investing The matter of investing Village funds was again discussed. In view <br />Village funds of the fact that prospects for improving Larpenteur Avenue ann a <br />number of alleys are under way, which may require that the Village <br />make certain outlays when said improvements are completed, it was <br />determined that it would be advisable not to invest Village funds <br />at this time, since it would appear most of these funds might be <br />neededto finance said pro3eots. <br /> <br />
