Nominations were called for with respect ~to appointing <br />Committee members of the r'ire Department committee Letter was read <br /> from Henry Dachtera, Secretary, Volunteer b'iremen's <br /> association, advising that ~e volunteer firemen's <br /> association had nominated John .Rysgaard as their represent- <br /> ative on the committee. acting on the nomination, the <br /> council voted unanimou sly to appoint John Rysgaard to <br /> membership on said committee, a n;~~ he was then declared <br /> duly appointed to office. Stenzinger nominated ruilliem <br /> H. al sen as council representati ve on said committee, Olsen <br /> declinir~ the nomination Stewart then nominated De.vid P, <br /> Gartwright as council representative on the committee. <br /> ~i'here being no further nominations , the council voted un- <br /> animously to appoint Cartwright as c~iuncil representative <br /> and Cartwri ~t was then declared duly appointed to offi ee. <br />Shavor nominated Clarence Rekstad for appointment on the <br /> committee to represent residents generally Stenzinger <br /> nominated ii, ~~ Bru ncke There being no fu rther nominations, <br /> the council voted as follows: Shavor, Stewart an3 Hustrulid <br /> for Rekstad, Stenzinger aril Cartwright f'or Bruncke, Rekstad <br /> was then declared duly appointed to office by atwo-thirds <br /> vote of 'the council . <br />Civil 'rustee Cartwright reported that the eomr~ittee appointed by <br />Defense the council at the previous meeting, consisting of .&Tayor <br /> Stenzinger and himself, met with local Civil .Defense <br /> representatives and a represent ati ve of the `lel e phone Company <br />• the evening of January 19, 1954 ~ Cartwright reported that <br /> the 'elephone Company representative explained the Company's <br /> light and bell system, and that a general reading and dis- <br /> co salon of the proposed Civil Le.~'en se ordinance followed with <br /> other members of the council being present Following <br /> Cartwright's report, lutrs. ~ruglac, Civil Defense director <br /> , <br />women's divi lion, spoke on Civil Defense matters. After discussion, it was agreed that the clerk should. <br />continue to publish as much as possible of the minutes as news items. <br />
