Trustee Cartwright reported tha± the Fire Department committee <br />Committee has not met to act upon matters referred to the committee because <br /> one of its members has been out of town. <br />Driveways, <br />bl <br />k <br />i Street Commissioner Seaborn reported on calls he had received <br />ac <br />topp <br />ng regarding blacktopping of driveways between the street line <br /> and owner's property line which the council had ordered dis- <br /> continued October 13, 1953. After some discussion, our <br /> attorney was asked to check the statute and to report on what <br /> the responsibility of the Village is in this connection. <br />Tree trimming Seaborn urged adoption of an ordinance providing for uniform <br /> boulevard tree trimming and for assessing costs against affected <br /> property owners. It was agreed. to ask our attorney to check <br /> any statute pertaining to tree trimming, also to determine how • <br /> this is handled in the City of St Paul. <br />Load limits Seaborn also reported that load limits, not over !~ tons axle <br /> weight, as prescribed by State Law, have been made effective <br /> on Village streets. <br />Insurance In connection with a discussion of possible savings on Village <br /> insurance premium costs, Cartwrig_.ht moved that the clerk be <br /> authorized to turn over to T~s~r. `,~d.A. ~"ortenson upon proper receipt <br /> all Village insurance policies for the purpose of making an <br /> insurance audit and recommendation. St.enzinger seconded and <br /> motion carried unanimously, <br />Civil Defense The IuRayor reported on meeting with ?ti4r. Kruse, Civil Defense <br /> director, who he said will present a proposed Civil Defense <br /> plan for council consideration in the near future. Also as <br /> to meeting with State Divil Defense representativas about <br /> securing Civil Defense equipment. <br />Police The Mayor also reported that he had met with Sheriff C,ibbons <br />and had discussed the matter of policing the Village with him. <br />
