~~,.. <br />,, <br />Alley back of biz Engineer Carley reported on a survey he had made last fall <br />property north of the alley back of the business property north of <br />of Larpenteur Larpenteur, and. on his recommendations for permanent or <br />temporary improvement of drainage conditions, Permanent <br />improvement, involving undercutting and regrading of the <br />alley, would cost at least $x,000, he said. An alternate <br />plan would be to use material now in the alley by scarifying, <br />revitalizing and rolling into place. He estimated cost of <br />the latter temporary improvement at X900 which would not <br />include installation of a new catch basin. After discussion, <br />Don Julen, representing the business property owner, agreed <br />to consult a contractor on the cost of patching, repairing <br />and adjusting the grade of the alley, with the understanding <br />that if the work is done it will be subject to t~ir. Carley's <br />approval for the Village, and on motion by Shavor, seconded <br />by Stenzinger, it was so ordered. <br />Maple Knoll In connection with extension of natural gas mains into the <br />gas main Maple Knoll addition, 'VIr. Milner tiY. Carley, Village Engineer <br />for the. natural gas project, recommended as per his letter <br />of April 22, that the Northern States Power Company be <br />required to place their gas main at the regular depth below <br />the established grade of these streets and to backfill and <br />tamp their trench, but that the Power Company not be required <br />to provide gravel or oil surfacing material since none is in <br />place on these streets now. R4r. Carley stated further that <br />the developers of Maple Knoll property have agreed to tais as <br />indicated by their signatures on his letter. Stenzinger <br />then moved that Engineer Carley's recommendations as stated <br />be approved as of April 22, 1954. Seconded by Hustrulid and <br />carried unanimously. <br />Gas main location Mr. Carley next presented maps in connection with natural <br />maps approved gas mains, showing locationsof same in streets grid alleys <br />of the Village, including everything done in this respect <br />to date. After discussion, Hustrulid moved that the Clerk <br />be authorized to sign the location plans and grades of the <br />natural gas lines in the Village. Seconded by Stenzinger <br />and so ordered. <br />Power Company Mr. Carley also reported that the Northern States Power <br />to patch ~ seal Company has agreed to patch and seal cracks in alleys due <br />alleys to laying of natural gas mains, the work to be done during <br />warm weather. At the same time he strongly urged that each <br />improved alley in the Village be given a seal coat of oil <br />to protect against deterioration of the bituminous surfaces. <br />Civil Defense Mrs. H. KruglacDirector, ~iomen's Division, Civil Defense, <br />presented the ~P'omen's Division annual report for 195t~, <br />including summary of staff members. Stenzinger moved that <br />the report be accepted and that a letter be written to Mrs. <br />Kruglac commending her for her services.
