~~ ; <br />Fire Equipt. In the absence of the Fire Department committee secretary, <br />items Hustrulid presented the committee's recommendation for <br />purchase of fire equipment. items, stating the only exception <br />was by one committee member to purchase of the fire hose. <br />The list included the following: <br />6-all service cannisters <br />1-micro attachment for resusitator <br />25' hose for micro attachment <br />2-firemen's rubber coats <br />2-firemen's helmets <br />2-pr. firemen's rubber boots <br />2-chemox masks <br />500 ft. 22" D.J, fire hose <br /> <br />Hustrulid then moved that the items as listed and recommended <br />by the committee be purchased, with the understanding that <br />competitive bids be secured on all items, including advertising <br />for bids on fire hose. Stenzinger seconded and motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Public Safety Stenzinger then presented copies of minutes of the <br />public Safety Committee's meeting of April 27, 1954, <br />arxi moved acceptance of same, Hustrulid seconded and <br />motion carried unanimously. Before taking action on the <br />committee's recommendationg for establishment of a <br />Village police department, it was agreed that the council <br />should meet with the Public Safety committee and Justices <br />of the Peace for a discussion relating to the handling of <br />violations . <br />Speed limit The committee's recommendation for lowering the speed limit <br />on Snelling Ave. on Snelling avenue was discussed and. referred to our attorney <br />for checking the statute. <br />Bldg. permit- Wayne Sorenson, blt3 N. 10th St., St Paul, appeared before <br />Wayne Sorenson the council in connection with his request for a building <br />permit. After discussion, Shavor moved th at the building <br />inspector now be authorized to issue permits upon proper <br />application if and. when requested on Lots 2 and 3 and west <br />17 ft. of Lot !~, ffiock, 10, Northome Second Addition, <br />rescinding previous action as shown on page X23, Minutes of <br />November 23, 1953. Hustrulid seconded and motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Lighting, Larp. Hustrulid reported briefly bha~t;hending a second meeting <br />& Snelling biz of the business men and Northern States Power Company <br />area. people, and that a proposal for lighting the Larpenteur- <br />Snelling business area aas presented at this meeting which <br />was held the morning of April 28. Operating costs of the <br />proposed lighting system, Hustrulid said, were estimated <br />at ~l~45.00 annually. <br />rJ <br />Fact Finding In connection with his appointment on the Mayor's fact <br />Committee, Ramsey finding committe, Stenzinger discussed information that <br />Co. fail was needed by the committee in connection with its study <br />of tine proposed Ramsey County fail. <br />
