<br />Questions re Letter of March 5 from Village attorney Graham, relating to
<br />Fire Dept. questions raised by Fire Chief Swanson pertaining to Ordinance
<br />Ordinance X31 No. 31, was read. Stewart moved that the letter be referred
<br />to the Volunteer Firemen and that copy also be referred to
<br />Fire Chief Swanson. Seconded by Shavor and so ordered.
<br />The Clerk was asked to point out that some suggested changes
<br />have been or will be included in the rules and regulations.

<br />Proposed State Leonard K. Doran, real estate operator, 155o x. Larpenteur,
<br />Farm Mutual Ins. reported that he and Trustee Cartwright had called on the
<br />Co. Building local manager of the State Farm Mutual Insurance Company
<br /> relative to the Insurance Company's proposed office building,
<br /> and that plans were to contact Mr. Middlebrook of the
<br /> University also. Cartwright told of his phone conversation
<br /> with Mr. Middlebrook who indicated that the State Fair Board
<br /> had for some time been interested in purchasing the property
<br /> ~lropc~sdd for the Insurance Company's building. The under-
<br /> standing was that Mr. Middlebrook would contact the State
<br /> Fair Board regarding the matter and that Mr. Cartwright would
<br /> keep in touch with him, After discussion, Shavor moved
<br /> that the Mayor be authorized to xrite a letter to the proper
<br /> officer of the State Mutual Insurance Company, of Bloomington,
<br /> Illinois, presenting the advantages of the proposed Falcon
<br /> Heights site and offering council cooperation. Seconded by
<br /> Stewart and motion carried unanimously.
<br />Proposed bldg., cif. F. Stepnitz and Don Julen appeared before the council, Mr.
<br />SE cor. Larp & Stepnitz stating they were doing so in behalf of the
<br />Snelling Rr Associated Investors and Mr. Cohn, the owner of vacant property
<br />variance request - at the SE corner of Larpenteur and Snelling. Mr• Stepnitz
<br />Stepnitz presented a letter and new plan relating to proposed construction
<br /> of a shopping center in the area. The proposed building, 120
<br /> x190, would face north with off-street parking facilities frontin
<br /> ~taiaason Larpenteur. Mr- Stepnitz' letter requested a modifi-
<br /> cation of the ordinance to permit a five or ten-foot setback
<br /> to the west of the proposed building.. After discussion, Stenzing
<br /> moved that the letter be referred to our Planning Commission for
<br /> further processing under Ordinance No. 16. Stewart seconded
<br /> and motion carried unanimously.
