610 <br />Public Safety the Public Safety department's report. for August showing total <br />expenses of ~495.1G and 65 traffic violation arrests, also <br />recommendation to place stop suns for Pascal avenue at <br />intersections of California and Iowa.. avenues. Proposed stop <br />suns were discussed but no action taken. <br />Asbury Shavor reported on inspecting the driveway at 177 Asbury, <br />driveway stating it appeared to be about 3 inches above the street and <br />when snow plowing is done this may cause damage to the snow <br />plow blade. After discussion, Hustrulid moved that Trustee <br />Shavor and F3uilding Inspection Christensen talk over the matter <br />with the owner to see if some sa+.isfactory agreement cannot be <br />worked out. Seconded by Stewart and motion carried. <br />~?aple Knoll Engineer Carley's letter of September 12, 1955, was read, <br />streets stating that the stabilizing work has been done and accepted <br />on :~aple Knoll streets, but that certain subdivision require- <br />ments of the Village have not been fulfilled. After discussion, <br />Shavor moved that the streets in h'aple Knoll addition, on <br />recommendation of Engineer Carley, be accepted and that the <br />Clerk be authorized to advise the bonding company that the <br />conditions of the bond have been met and the bond may be <br />terminated when the Clerk is properly satisfied that the bars <br />have been properly placed at the entrance of the dry wells. <br />Seconded by Hustrulid and motion carried unanimously. <br />Fire Siren Fire Chief Swanson's letter of September 6 was read relative <br />to delay that has occurred in repairing the automatic sirenr~control <br />and time clock in the fire station. Hustrulid reported the delay <br />occurred because of his vacation and that he had arranged an <br />appointment on the matter with Tieso Electric Company for next <br />Friday, the 16th. <br />Hydrostatic The Clerk reported pricing hydrostatic test pumps, 11" and 2~" <br />test pump size, as requested by the Fire Chief. A Arinneapolis fire <br />equipment company, the clerk said, offers two portable makes <br />each with table, one for ~"~229.~5 suitable for 300 lb. tests, <br />and one for X318.55 with gate valve for testing up to 500 lbs. <br />He said the 'r'dhite~ Sear Lake volunteer fire department report <br />using their 1000-gallon arard T,a France fire enging in testing <br />three or four hoses at a time with pressured applied by the pump. <br />The ~y`hite Hear department, he said, pointed. out that putting <br />the engine under load this way some times shows up loose connections <br />or other defects wPiich can be taken care of before afire run, <br />Park P"achine Company, who services our fire trucks, agreed with <br />this, the Clerk said. Fire Chief Swanson, who was present, said <br />the practice in our fire department has been to test the fire hose <br />onee a year on a static test wi th pressure applied by the pump <br />without water flow thru it., and he felt continuing this might <br />damage the pump. The Clerk was asked to write the Hale Pump Co. <br />to see if it is safe to run the pumpwithout water flow t.hru it. <br />Street signs Commissioner Seaborn reported on additional street suns needed <br />in the Village, including 22 posts and 88 name plates at a~ost <br />of `311.30. He said most of these were needed in Klatt,'s addition <br />and in T,taple Knoll. Cartwright moved that street signs as <br />recommended by the Street Commissioner be installed. Seconded by <br />Stewart and so ordered. <br />
