614 <br />House Builaing Inspector Christensen reported on efforts that have <br />numbering been made to correct a few discrepancies in house numbering. <br />After discussion, it was agreed it would be best to continue <br />to handle the matter on a voluntary basis. <br />Fire truck Lynn Matteson appeared before the council in connection with <br />insurance the question of why collision insurance had not been taken <br />coverage out on our fire trucks. Yr. Matteson said this was considered <br />from the standpoint of exposure of our trucks and that the <br />premium for collision insurance was quite high. The premium <br />on this type of insurance, he said, is designed to cover larger <br />cities where there is considerable exposure. In a residential <br />area like Falcon Heights where fire runs are much less frequent, <br />there is not the hazard, Yr. Matteson said. The question of <br />whether our present insurance coverage protects against damage <br />to s truck from a falling wall, was discussed. Yr. Matteson <br />and Attorney Graham were asked to check and report on the <br />matter. <br />Insurance Yr. Matteson suggested that the Village combine its general <br />suggestions liability insurance and liability on trucks either in a single <br />policy or by taking both policies out with one Company so as <br />to avoid the question of liability on the part of one Company <br />or the other. Matteson said that municipalities find they <br />can save considerable on insurance coats by putting their <br />insurance out on bids. After discussion, Cartwright moved <br />that the Clerk prepare a memo covering Yr. Matteson~s suggestions <br />for consideration at our first meeting in May, 1956. Seconded <br />by Hy~strulid and so ordered. <br />Stop signs Public Safety Commission Chairman Sid Bumgardner said the <br />ordered for Commission recommended. installing of stop signs at Califom is <br />California & and Iona avenues so as to make Pascal avenue a thru street <br />Iowa at Pascal between I~arpen tear and Hoyt avenues. After discussion, Cartwright <br />moved that said stop signs be installed, Seconded by Shavor <br />and motion carried unanimously. <br />Pedestrian Sid Bumgardner also pointed out that there was no sign to <br />cross walk inform motorists driving east on Larpenteur of the pedestrian <br />sign crossMalk ahead. After discussion, the Clerk was asked to refer <br />the matter to the County Traffic Engineer for suggestions. <br />Speed limit The question of establishing a reduced speed limit on Garden <br />Garden avenue in the school district was referred to the Village <br />attorney for checking and report. <br />Teen age Sid Bumgardner urged that parents be advised to caution teen <br />speeding age membera of the family against speeding or drag racing, <br />stating where arrests are made for such violations, the teen <br />agar is required to appear in Juvenile court. <br />Tatum Street Yrs. E.C. Hallanger, 1875 Tatum, reported that the street sign <br />sign at Larpen- for Tatum at Larpenteur would be more noticeable if moved to <br />tear the north side of L;arpen tear on Tatum. Shavor moved that the <br />Clerk request the County Engineer to move the Tatum street sign <br />from its present location south of Larpenteur to the north <br />side of Larpenteur at Tatum.
