6VN <br />Regent's letter Letter dated May 11, 195b, to Mayor Utecht from Mr. W.T. <br />re condemning Middlebrook, Secretary, University of Minnesota Board of <br />Larpenteur Regents, was read relative to the Board of Regents' <br />property decision not to reconsider the Board's action to begin <br /> condemnation proceedings on property generally described <br /> as four-fifths of the area along the south side of Larpenteur <br /> avenue between St Mary's and Fairview avenues. <br />Resolution Following a full discussion of the matter, and on motion by <br /> Shavor, seconded by Cartwright, the following resolution was <br /> adopted by a unanimous vote: <br />Approves action. RESOLVED, that the Village Council, Village of Falcon Heights, <br />of Mayor in asking Minnesota, hereby approves the action of the Mayor taken by <br />Regents to reconsider letter dated May 1, 1956 to the Board of Regents, University <br />decision to con- of Minnesota, requesting the Board of Regents to reconsider <br />demn property its decision to condemn certain property in the Village of <br /> Falcon Heights, and the Mayor's subsequent statement to the <br /> Press on May 13, 195b on the same subject; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Village Council, Village <br /> of Falcon Heights, hereby goes on record as opposing <br /> acquisition by the University of Minnesota of any additional <br /> property in the Village of Falcon Heights by condemnation <br /> or otherwise, since such acquisition will reduce the tax <br /> base and deprive the Village of land needed for normal growth; <br /> and <br /> BE IT RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be sent to <br /> Governor Orville L. Freeman, Senator Elmer L. Andersen, <br /> Representative Claude H. Allen and to the Board. of Regents. <br />Municipal Court, Copy of Attorney Graham's letter of May 11, 1956 to Mayor <br />Roseville Kitts, Village of RoseviLle"~~n'gi~iring in connection with <br /> our possible use of Roseville's municipal court as to probable <br /> cost and whether fines assessed under Falcon Heights ordinances <br /> would, be turned over to the Village of Falcon Heights. <br />Board of Health Letter of May 15, 1956, from Dr. Thomas K. Krezowski, submitting <br />Chairman resigns his resignation as Chairman, Board of Health, was read. <br /> Utecht moved that the resignation be accepted as submitted, <br /> that Doctor Krezowski be so advised by letter, thanking him <br /> for past services, and that tthe matter be referred to Trustee <br /> Shavor. Seconded by Stewart and motion carried unanimously. <br />Garbage Proposal In connection with a meeting of community representatives <br /> on May 18, 1956, at the Mounds View Town Hall, Trustee Harold <br /> C. Nilsen who attended, reported that a tentative plan was <br /> presented by Messrs. Edward H. Willmus and Raymond J. Kroiss <br /> who proposed to erect an incinerator for disposal of refuse <br /> and garbage in rural Ramsey County. The plan, Nilsen said, <br /> provides for payment of ~5 cents per housing unit by each <br /> participating municipality, the charge to be subject to certain <br /> adjustments annually. The majority, Trustee Nilsen said, <br /> felt it would be difficult to set up an organization like this <br /> and doubted that people would go along with it. Said the main <br /> problem was for the municipality to set up an ordinance for putting <br />
