Shavor moved that the Clerk be <br /> requested to inform Mrs. Townsend that a petition for <br /> improvement of the alley xill have to be filed. Seconded <br /> by Cartwright and motion carried anon imously. <br />Keller rezoning Ralph Keller, 1830 West Larpenteur, submitted a petition <br />petition dated May 15, 195b, requesting that property located south <br /> of Larpenteur avenue and described in said petition be <br /> rezoned to Business district. After discussion, Cartwright <br /> moved that we refer the petition to the Planning Commission <br /> and ask them, in view of our previous request for rezoning <br /> in this area that the Commission consider this petition and <br /> report at the Council's June 13, 1956 meeting on what rezoning <br /> the Commission would recommend. Seconded by Stewart and <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br />Minors employed Public Safety Supervisor Don Arndt and Of icer~ Da~htera <br />' <br />in bowling alley reported that minors below the legal ag~;,~re <br />employed at <br /> .the bowling alley at 1550 West Larpenteur. After discussion, <br /> Arndt was instructed to inform the bowling alley owner that <br /> such employment of minors is a violation of State law and of <br /> our Village ordinance, and that employees below the legal <br /> age must be replaced not later than May 28, 1956, and that. <br /> further violations in this respect will result in prosecutions <br /> under the Village ordinance. <br />Street, drainage Messrs. Don Carley and Vern Lundgren, of our Village Engineer's <br />and maintenance staff, appeared before the council in connection with street <br />recommendations drainage and maintenance matters. Mr. Carley's letter of <br />May 23, 1956, was read with recommendation for correcting <br />drainage at Arona and California, maintenance of surfaced <br />alleys, drainage west end of Hollywood Court Drive, and <br />recommendation on oiling of streets. After discussion of <br />these and other matters previously referred to our Vi11a ge <br />Engineer, Shavor moved. that we proceed with the repair and <br />Repair and mainten- maintenance of the improved alleys, including Hollywood Court, <br />ante of streets and the streets in accordance with the Village Engineer's <br />and improved alleys recommendation, the work to be done by County forces under <br />ordered. the supervision of our Village Engineer. Seconded by Cartwright <br />and motion carried unanimously. <br />Shavor moved that the Village Engineer discuss the problem of <br />repairing Arona avenue between Larpenteur and Crawford with the <br />County Engineer, pointing out that the work done last year in <br />this area at a considerable cost has not stood up as expected, <br />partially due to improper grade, and that the Village Engineer <br />endeavor to have the County make the necessary repairs at ~bunty <br />expense if possible, also that lowering of the catch basin on <br />the west side of Arona and seal coating of the road surface is <br />authorized, all work to be done by County forces as specified <br />1 <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
