9.~9 <br />Ahlberg culvert ditch is closed for 6 to 8 feet beyond the driveway, or <br />matter (cont'd) if the contractor is successful in carrying it to the <br />alley between Idaho and Iowa. He estimated the additional <br />cost of carrying it to the alley at X550, It, was finally <br />agreed to have Mr. Steffes prepare a plan which Bdr. Betley <br />will take up with Mr. Ahlberg and then submit to the <br />council for action. <br />Drainage Drainage conditions on Crawford, Holton, Garden and Albert <br />Streets were discussed with Engineers Steffes and Betley. <br />Mr. Steffes said the contractors are going to keep blading <br />and working these streets until freezing sets in, in order <br />Motorists to dry them out and put in the best shape possible. <br />Trustee .Nilsen asked that the men operating the contractor's <br />equipment cooperate with and assist motorists when they <br />get stuck in the newly graded streets. Mr. Steffes said <br />instructions will be issued to do so. <br />Culvert Messrs. Paul M, Barry and Ralph E;. Pirnie, of Barry and <br />thawing Sewall Industrial Supply Company, Minneapolis, appeared <br />equipment before the council as requested and provided information <br />on questions relating to the thawing out of culverts and <br />on the use of their equipment in this connection. Units <br />described in their literature and discussed were: <br />#1250 C-P Gas engine driven unit, on 52--inch steel wheels, <br />suitable for mounting on truck, 120-gal capacity; <br />price, X915. <br />#1859 Gas engine driven unit on trailer,180 gal.cap., X1,979. <br />#1250 M Gas engine driven unit, mounted on three wheels, <br />120 gal. cap.; price, X1,098. <br />Gutter on Engineer Steffes reported on the condition of Garden street <br />Garden from between Pascal and Holton and his discussion of the situation <br />Pascal to with Reverend Trimble, pastor of the Falcon Heights Congregational <br />Holton to be Church. On recommendation of Engineer Steffes, it was moved <br />surfaced. by Stewart,that the gutter along the south side of Garden Avenue <br />from Pascal to Holton be surfaced with hot Unix approximately <br />2-feet wide, to provide for a permanent gutter at this time at <br />an estimated cost of X100.00, and that the Clerk be instructed <br />to write the Board of Trustees, Falcon Heights Congregational <br />Church, advising that this will be done and that they should <br />inform their contractors that they will be held responsible for <br />any damage to the gutter surface. Seconded by Utecht and <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />Cave-ins where The Mayor reported receiving a complaint from a home owner <br />stuff comes in that after his house connection was made cave-ins occurrdd <br />from main sewer where the stub comes in from the main sewer. Engineer <br />Batley reported that where water is used for settlement in <br />connection with sewer installation to the house and the <br />ditch is not compacted properly that such settlement will <br />take pl ace. The Clerk was asked to notify Village Plumbing <br />Inspector Falkoski to require installers to put in cribbing <br />and properly compact for the stub in the boulevard. <br />
