r~ <br /> <br />~ti9 <br />Culvert Culvert thawing equipment was discussed with Engineer L~ungren. <br />the~+ring: He stated that the Village of Maplewood had arranged for a <br />equipment demonstration of the Mulberry make of equipment of this type <br />and that he would report on this later. <br />Insurance The Cle rk reported that insurance policy No. OC 16 829 of Casualty <br />coverage Underxriters, Inc., dated December 1, 1956, insured the Village <br />against fire and lightning and extended coverage and vandalism <br />and malicious mischief for a period of five years, expiring <br />Deeemaber 1, 1961. Also that policy No. CGL-6-961381, Comprehensive <br />General Liability coverage, dated December !~, 1956, <br />was for a three-rear period ending December 1, 1959. He said that <br />the following policies insure the Village from December 1, 1956 <br />to December 1, 1957 <br />Policy No. WC 30100l~58 of Iowa National Mutual Insurance Company, <br />Standard Workmen's Compensation and Employers' Liability Policy. <br />Policy No. CAL-6-961383 of Mutual Service Casualty Insurance Company, <br />Comprehensive General Automobile Liability coverage. <br />Policy No. AF-6-961382 of Mutual Service Casualty Insurance Company, <br />Fire, Theft and Wind coverage. <br />1 <br />1 <br />After discussion, Shavor moved that each of the three policies <br />Policies expiring as of December 1, 1957 be reneged for one year with the <br />renewed same insurance companies as at present. Seconded by Warkentien <br />and motion carried unanimously. <br />Holton Street Mayor Utecht announced that in accord with the action taken at <br />petition our November 7, 1957 meeting, the Village Engineer and the Pro3ect <br />Engineers had checked the drainage situation with respect to each <br />of the petitioners' properties and had prepared a profile showing <br />each individual situation. About 25 persons were in the audience. <br />Engineers' Vernon L. L3ungren, of our Village Engineer's staff, explained <br />report that the former Holton street cospared with the new type of street <br />section, consisted of blacktopping over a number of years with ditches, <br />etc. He said that he and the project engineers had met regarding <br />the petitioners' request; that they had surveyed the area and got a <br />few additional levels in front of and back of the houses, including <br />in some cases the back lot line. The engineers' conclusions, he said, <br />were that the grade on Holton as set at present should not be changed. <br />He said that the center of the street at present is 3 to 6 inches higher <br />than the designed grade; that the gutter along the edges of the street <br />was deepened to carry off the water, and that dirt has been brat into <br />the center of the street to provide more of a crown. L~ungren said <br />that if the street is regraded according to the engineers' recommen- <br />dation, the center of the street will probably be lowered 3 to 6 inches. <br />Each property The engineers, including Robert Greiling, K. Betley and Vernon L~ungren, <br />considered then discussed with the petitioners what the profile showed as to <br />grades and drainage for each property. It wasconcluded there was no <br />water problem except at 1891 Holton where Mr. McDonough, the owner, <br />was advised that about an 18-inch sgale section about 6 inches deep <br />and 18 inches wide would suffice to carry off the water from hie <br />property.
