•
c
Dec. 18, 2003
1425 W. California Ave.
Falcon Heights MN
Dear Planning Commission and Heather Worthington,
I request you reconsider the 18 1/2 foot height limit on unattached garages in
the Northome area of FH. There are two of these beauties on my alley which are
blocking the sky, trees and alleys when they are full of ice. Sand on the alleys may
help but sun that melts ice is the best. Their appearance is changing the
neighborhood--we do not have grass--we have cement parking aprons,
garages and houses on these small lots.
Several of my neighbors are feeling the same about these tall buildings. I can
r.
supply their names if needed.
In checking with other cities I find Roseville has a 15' height limit and
Shoreview residents can have a garage no higher than their houses. Here in
small-lot Northome perhaps a smaller percentage of the height of the home would
work. Also that city's parking areas, pools and other buildings must be counted
in figuring the coverage on the lot. That sounds like a workable idea to me.
While a shorter height limit may pose a problem for FH residents wishing to
i•
store belongings perhaps this information could be available to possible new
home buyers so they would at least know the restriction.
Thank you,
