DRAFT
Currently, there are about 60 volunteers visiting about 620 residents each
month throughout our service area. Falcon Heights has 63 residents visited
by three volunteers and one staff (we are currently seeking more volunteer
blockworkers in this area).
The Roseville Area Senior Program is the only multipurpose senior center,
designated a community focal point, which provides a comprehensive range
of services and programs for older adults in your community. The mission of
the Roseville Area Senior Program is to provide quality programs and
services to individuals over the age of 55 so they may live independently for
as long as they choose. The Blockworker Program is prime example of a
program in place which provides that important link to accessing services.
However, as with many organization, we are faced with increased demand for
programs and services while at the same time dealing with reduced funding
to meet the needs.
Therefore, we are submitting the following proposal to the Falcon Heights City
Council:
The North Suburban Senior Council anticipates our supplemental
funding needs to be $16,000, which represents approximately 9% of the total
operating budget of NSSC. The NSSC is requesting these fund to support the
Blockworker Outreach Program. Each of the communities we serve is being
asked to fund a percentage of this dollar amount based on the number
persons over the age of 60 in each city. According to the 1990 census there
are 930 individuals over age 60, which is 9% of the total number of persons,
10,000, over 60 in our service area ISD 623. Therefore, Falcon Heights
share of the $16, 000 would be about $1,440 (16,000 x .09 1,440).
Thank you for your serious consideration of our proposal.
Sincerely,
Lynnae LeBarron
