been invited, but none have responded. Lauderdale has also
contacted Jeff Letterman at the Office of Waste Management for
publications and is waiting for a response.
2. Composting Information. Jeff Dains will contact the
University to see if its slide show on composting can be made
available at short notice; members noted that Lauderdale's
composting ordinance is less restrictive than Falcon Heights'. Jeff
Dains will also contact the Minnesota Horticultural Society to see
if it can provide materials on composting. John Brynildson will
contact ReComp (an affiliate of Supercycle) for information on
commercial composting.
3. Invitation of Elected Officials. Jeff Dains will invite
County Commissioner Brenda Thomas and State Representatives John
Marty and MaryJo McGuire, while Marty McCleery will invite County
Commissioner John Finley.
4. Publicity. Shirley Chenoweth talked to haulers about
distributing a flyer to advertise the event, but it is not likely
that they will do so. (E -Z Recycling is to get back to her.) John
Hustad obtained estimates from Insty Prints for printing signs to be
attached to existing recycling coordinators' yard signs, but the
cost was deemed too high. Insty Prints is not likely to donate the
printing, and such a proposal would have to be approved by the City
Council. Susan Smith will prepare a sign to be photocopied at City
Hall and distributed to block workers for display. The event will
be advertised on the cable channel and on the City Hall sign, and an
updated press release will be sent to the Focus and the Roseville
Review.
5. Parking. Terry Iverson will attempt to make arrangements
with Hewlett Packard to use their parking lot if needed for overflow
parking.
6. Activities. Laura Kuettel will coordinate a master floor
plan. She is to be advised (at 646 -7099) about every activity or
display once it is confirmed in order to ensure that needs do not
exceed available space. Susan Smith will look into the possibility
of showing videos over the lobby monitors, although remodeling in
the Council chambers may make this impossible. Jeff Dains will see
if a musician can be hired to entertain. Jeff Dains will also
contact Truman Olson, photographer for the Bugle, about covering the
event and about obtaining prints or negatives of pictures taken, and
will see if "Jack" from Lauderdale can videotape the event. Mike
Haglund and John Hustad have designed a number of possible
childrens' games and activities. After discussion and voting, it
was decided to go forward with making refrigerator magnets from
juice can tops and fishing and bowling (rotated if space is limited)
at the open house. Information about other activities can be made
available to interested children /parents. Nancy Misra will prepare
a flyer describing activities which reuse otherwise disposable
materials. John Brynildson will arrange for information and /or
displays on tire and /or metal recycling. Marty McCleery, assisted
by Susan Smith, will prepare a bar graph showing recycling tonnage
-2-
