Meeting Date: 3/9/94 <br /> Agenda Item: C 4 <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: Accept donation of temporary sprinkler system installation <br /> for fire department training exercise <br /> SUBMITTED BY: Clem Kurhajetz, Fire Chief <br /> REVIEWED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator <br /> EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: <br /> The fire deparmtent plans to use 2061 West Larpenteur Avenue for a series of training <br /> drills prior to its demolition by the city. As part of that exercise the fire department <br /> received a proposed contribution for the installation of an automatic fire suppression <br /> system in one room of the structure from Local Union 14 the automatic fire <br /> suppression /pipefitters union. The union personnel will install and remove the system. <br /> The offer is being extended to accomplish the following: <br /> 1. To promote a public service announcement by fire officials that <br /> residential sprinklers will save lives. <br /> 2. To visually show fire department personnel the installation of a fire <br /> suppression system. (Doug LeMay requested the installation be done on a <br /> Tuesday drill night.) <br /> 3. To promote a video tape to be developed for a PSA for the government <br /> access channel for Falcon Heights. <br /> The fire chief and training officer are requesting council acceptance of this donation <br /> to assist them with their training exercise. There will be no cost to the city and no <br /> advertising is involved except for an acknowledgement on the video credits. <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> Accept the donation of a sprinkler system from the Local Union 14 for use in a fire <br /> department training exercise. <br /> CON$ENrini ENT <br />
