LARPENTEUR AVENUE FALCON HEIGHTS, MN 55113.5594 PHONE (612) 644 -5050 FAX (612) 644 -8675
5 June 1995
Mr. Dan Holmquist
Resource Manager
Minnesota Horticultural Society
1755 Prior Ave.
Falcon Heights, MN 55113
Dear Dan:
I'm following up on our telephone conversations over the past two
weeks to let you know the status of the Society's request to
plant a prairie garden partially on the city easement.
Your request is currently being reviewed by the city's landscape
architect just to make sure that the council and staff have an
outside opinion for the public record and for their
consideration. As we discussed you'll be asked to cover the cost
of this review. We will also notify abutting property owners so
they are aware of your request.
I perceive that your request to plant on the city easement is
unique for two reasons. First, your organization has very
limited land available for horticultural activities given the
configuration of the site. Second, your organization requires
gardening opportunities to demonstrate your horticulturalist
activities for members as well as for broader community
education.
Finally, the Society's request is scheduled for the June 28, 1995
city council meeting at 7 PM. I apologize for the length of
time required prior to council action. However, the city
council's June 14 meeting was canceled due to the annual League
of Minnesota Cities Conference, which many councilmembers attend.
Again, thank you for written proposal and willingness to work
within the city's review process. Please contact me if you have
any questions or comments.
in•erely,
1
Susan Hoyt .40'
City Administrator
HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR AND THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
r twee an CM e PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
