A 1 f►1 At 4-- <br /> Effective September 15, 1994 <br /> Subject: Ride Along Program <br /> Purpose: <br /> To establish policy and procedures to be followed regarding the Ride <br /> Along Program whereby citizens may become passengers in Fire <br /> Department vehicles while a Fire Department member is on duty. The <br /> program will help to maintain communications and understanding between <br /> our citizens and members of the Fire Department by allowing citizens to <br /> accompany fire department members on duty. Permission may be granted <br /> only by the Fire Chief. <br /> Authorization: <br /> 1) The fire chief has the authority to permit or allow citizens the <br /> privilege of becoming passengers in fire department vehicles <br /> during the time the fire department member is performing his <br /> duties. <br /> 2) The fire chief may delegate this authority to grant permission to <br /> ride along to those fire department staff members who are <br /> responsible to the fire chief (Officers). <br /> 3) Each applicant shall submit a written application to the Fire Chief <br /> for permission to participate in the ride along program. Appropriate <br /> application forms shall be provided by the department. <br /> 4) The Fire Chief may waive conditions, place restrictions, refuse <br /> permission, cancel privileges, or discontinue the program at any <br /> time. <br />
