Procedure to Apply <br /> 1) Applications must be submitted to the fire chief seven days prior to <br /> the desired date requested for the ride along. <br /> 2) All applications must be completely filled out or they will be <br /> disapproved. <br /> 3) All persons requesting approval must be 16 years of age or older. <br /> Individuals under 18 years of age must have their parent's written <br /> permission and may not ride past 2300 hours. (Permission will be <br /> verified by the duty person prior to the minor participating.) <br /> Policy: <br /> 1) The Department, in order to give the public a better understanding of <br /> the complexities of Fire department work may approve citizen ride <br /> a longs. <br /> 2) The ride along authorization ,shall extend to Fire and rescue vehicles. <br /> Ride along participants for rescue calls are restricted to <br /> persons who have participated in the 40 hour first responder <br /> course through the Falcon Heights fire department or another <br /> certified rescue service as approved by the fire chief. <br /> 3) Applicants requesting to participate in the ride along program shall <br /> be required to meet the following criteria: <br /> a) Any person as determined by the fire chief to be in the best <br /> interest of the department. <br /> 4) Participants are restricted to only one ride -along consisting of one <br /> 9 hour tour of duty unless written permission has been granted by <br /> the Fire Chief. <br /> 5) This policy does not apply to Explorer Scouts city council <br /> members. or city administrator. <br /> dL. <br />
