Responsibilities and Procedures for Supervisory Personnel and Officer <br /> Participants: <br /> 1) Duty Person <br /> a) Individual duty persons shall approve or reject all requests for <br /> participation in the program. <br /> 1) Should an applicant be rejected for whatever reason, the <br /> duty person shall document their reason for rejection. <br /> b) Participants will be interviewed and if they meet the criteria <br /> stated above, they shall be given (1) an application to be <br /> completed in duplicate; (2) a waiver to be signed in the presence <br /> of the duty person. <br /> c) The duty person shall have the authority to revoke an <br /> authorization at any time if the participants conduct or attire <br /> are not in the best interests of the department. <br /> 2) Fire Chief <br /> a) The Fire Chief who selects people to participate in the program <br /> should consider that the Fire Department Member is in effect <br /> representing the Fire Department. <br /> b) The Chief will advise the member participant that they are to <br /> perform their duties in the same manner as if the citizen were <br /> not present. <br /> 3) Fire Department Member Participants <br /> a) The Fire department participant is responsible for the safety of <br /> the Ride -Along participant and should not intentionally involve <br /> the citizen in a dangerous situation. <br /> 3 <br />
