b) In routine calls it is discretionary whether the rider should <br /> or should not accompany the Fire Department member. <br /> 1. Good judgment should be exercised. <br /> c) In the event the duty person receives an emergency call, they may <br /> respond with or without the rider. If the call is inherently <br /> dangerous, such as a Haz Mat call, the duty person may leave the <br /> ride along at the fire station. <br /> d) The fire department member participant may terminate the ride <br /> along if the individual hampers, interferes, or otherwise hinders <br /> the performance or efficiency of any fire department member. <br /> Passenger rules <br /> Members shall explain to each passenger, and insure compliance <br /> with, the following rules: <br /> 1) Department members will explain potential hazards that could be <br /> encountered and the necessity for the passenger to immediately obey <br /> all instructions from the Department member. <br /> 2) No ride along passenger will be permitted to carry or use any <br /> camera, tape recorder, or other type of recording device or carry any <br /> lethal or non lethal weapon. <br /> 3) All names of persons or information concerning incidents must be <br /> kept confidential unless otherwise authorized. <br /> 4) Ride along passengers must not become personally involved in Fire <br /> department incidents unless requested to do so by the department <br /> member. <br /> 5) Passengers may be required to testify in a court and act as a <br /> witness. <br />
