MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
May 28, 2008
Planner noted that under the revised Zoning Code, there are a series of
conditions that must be met relative to outdoor storage. He noted that the
applicant has submitted a revised site plan since the Planning Commission
meeting, which address some of the conditions in the original planning
report dated May 2, 2008. However, there are still a few outstanding
conditions that must be met as outlined in the May 22, 2008 planning
report. These are:
*Provide detail about the storage;
*Provide detail about the layout and height of the storage;
*Access aisles must be 20 feet in width.
Lee Rossow, property owner, appeared before the Council and reviewed
the site plan in detail. Rossow noted the changes he is proposing to the
landscaping along the sheet which will include a display area for Tri-State
Bobcat. He also indicated that two of the access points will be closed and
two will remain. There are currently 85 parking spots on the property, and
parking will be reduced to 39 spots. The blacktop that will be removed
will be replaced with green area. Rossow reported that the storage lot will
be screened with landscaping. That lot will contain equipment that is both
for sale and for rent.
Rossow felt that the improvements that will be made to the property will
be a great enhancement for the area.
Blesener noted the significant discussion in 2000 relative to the planters
along the front of the property as they are within the street right-of--way.
Rossow indicated that two of the planters will remain. He again noted that
the number of access points for this property will be reduced to two.
Blesener asked if Rossow had any objection to the Fire Department's
recommendation for 20 foot access aisles within the storage area. Rossow
replied that he did not, noting that the aisles as proposed are up to 40 feet
in width.
There was no one present from the general public wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by Allan, seconded by McGraw, the public hearing was
closed.
Montour asked about the outstanding issues. The City Planner indicated
that a letter from Mr. Rossow clarifying the types of storage and that he
will comply with the layout and height provisions of the ordinance would
be acceptable.
