MINUTES
CITY COiJNCIL
JANUARY 31, 2005
I3(esener stated that if on-street parking does ^ot work, it will be up to the
condos and apartments to work out a plowing schedule that can
accommodate vehicles in their parking lots. The City camiot invest
taxpayers' dollars into on-street parking areas.
The City Administrator indicated that the City will try to work with the
condos and apartments as long as the ou-street parking is not creating a
safety hazard. He also noted that the on-street parking would have to be
limited to one side of the street.
Blesener suggested that the issue of extending a trail/walking path along
County Road I3-2 from Rice Street to Viking Drive be sent to the Parks &
Recreation Commission for comment.
One resident asked if bus service would run during the project
construction. The City Engineer reported that the project will be discussed
with the bus company and efforts made to continue service through the
projecC duration.
There were no additional comments from the general public present.
Upon motion by Montour, seconded by Keis, the public hearing was
closed.
Montour asked about project timing and interference with school buses.
The City Engineer indicated that the project specifications will indicate
that the project must be completed during those months that school is not
iu session. The City Administrator pointed out that any time a
reconstruction project is done there will be inconveniences and
frustrations. However, every effort will be made to keep the area
accessible. It was noted that project newsletters will be distributed during
the course of the project to keep residents up-to-date. Morris asked that he
be given enough copies so he can distribute them to the residents of Grand
Pre aparCmeuts.
Mari I{och asked if she will have two assessments for this project. The
City Administrator noted that there is a separate assessment for each of her
two lots. "the administrator indicated it might be possible to defer the
assessment for the vacant lot that Koch owns. That can be discussed in
the fall at the time of the assessment hearing.
Ms. Allan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
ItEb'O7.
